The Verizon HTC One release just got one step closer as the device has passed through the FCC, just another hurdle that it needed to pass before its arrival on shelves sometime this summer.
For weeks now, the Verizon HTC One has been official though the device remains without a release date or pricing as HTC and Verizon continue to remain mum about the device’s official information. That doesn’t mean we haven’t seen clues as the Verizon HTC One release has seen a couple of release windows emerge.
The first and latest both came from a promotion that HTC is hosting for the HTC One, one in which users can snag a $25 Google Play Credit to bolster their application lineup upon receiving the smartphone. Originally, the promo was supposed to end on July 15th only to be prolonged until July 30th. It could be that the promotion was extended to accommodate future Verizon HTC One owners who still haven’t seen their smartphone arrive.
The second was a leaked press image for the Verizon HTC One that showed a date of September 5th. On occasion, the date on a promotional photo of a device will tip off the release date and in this case, buyers became panicked when it showed a date far off in the distance. While September 5th is possible, it’s unlikely especially now that the device has passed through the FCC.
The Verizon HTC One has indeed passed through the FCC, something that was first noticed by Engadget. This is one of the hurdles that the release needs to pass before it can arrive and it’s a sign that an announcement should be coming soon. How soon is unclear though typically it’s only a few weeks from the FCC filing, meaning, it could be out before the end of July.
Nothing is set in stone at this point but this a great sign for those that have been waiting weeks for this device to emerge from the shadows. Be on the lookout for an official announcement soon.
