Samsung Galaxy Note 2 & Galaxy S3 May Skip Android 4.2 Update

It appears that Samsung may pass on updating the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and instead, skip the update entirely and update them with Android 4.3 later on this year.

Earlier this year, we saw the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update leak out for the world to see, exposing the update as a bigger update than just Android 4.2 itself. The update is going to be bringing some of the features that came with the new Samsung Galaxy S4, features that should help to keep the phone fresh as owners head into their second year of ownership.

Verizon pulled the Samsung Galaxy S3 multi Window update for poor to no signal issues.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 may skip Android 4.2.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2 update has yet to leak out though we have heard that Samsung plans to update the device with Android 4.2 sometime in the third quarter along with the Galaxy S3. The third quarter spans from July to September, leaving a broad window for owners to deal with.

A new rumor though throws all of that out the window as Temefy suggests that an insider from Research and Development at Samsung India has informed them that Samsung will be skipping Android 4.2 Jelly Bean updates for both of these devices and will instead look to update them with the upcoming Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update instead.

Evidently, Samsung is working on both updates for both of these devices though it appears that the updates may have been delayed again, beyond the company’s target date. November is being suggested as a new target date for the updates, a month that is obviously far off in the distance and lands around the time that we expect a new Nexus and Android 5.0.

This rumor should be taken with an extreme grain of salt given that we’ve seen Android 4.2 leak out, most recently for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, which saw its update emerge yesterday.

Samsung has yet to confirm anything so this situation remains up in the air. But Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 owners need to start preparing for the possibility of not receiving Android 4.2 but instead, getting Android 4.3 at some point further down the road.

With the third quarter in full swing, look for more details to emerge in the near future.

Galaxy S3 might miss the Android update 4.2 but do not miss to see 99 reasons as to why a Galaxy S3 is better than iPhone 5 at this new website:

I disagree with you, I have both S3 and iPhone 4S, despite iPhone 4S have a lower spec compare to S3, generally the iPhone 4S out performs normal routine daily task. The S3 is a lagging compare to iPhone 4S, try pressing the home button, scrolling between screens and even opening an app, the iPhone 4S way much faster. But I guess others have other experience than me, This is just my opinion.

@Thomas If you would look closer, you could tell that the phone is plugged into the charger (battery icon has the lightning bolt in it).

The battery probably isn’t even in the device, just running on AC power with the charger cable I have seen this in many other pictures and video’s. I am a huge android enthusiast.
