Samsung has announced that it will be debuting a new processor next week in the form of a new Exynos 5 Octa processor, a processor that could very well find its way inside the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

While the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has leaked out numerous times, rumors can’t decide on the exact processor that will be coming inside the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Whispers have suggested that Samsung could be looking at employing one of three processors with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, the current Exynos 5 Octa processor and a new Exynos 5 Octa processor all being rumored for the new phablet.

Samsung is poised to announce a new Exynos 5 Octa processor.

Today, Samsung may have just confirmed what will be inside the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 when it arrives later on this year. Samsung’s Exynos Twitter account sprang to life today and confirmed an Exynos 5 Octa related announcement next week. In fact, the company has confirmed that it will be announcing a new Exynos 5 Octa next week.

Samsung is mum on the specifics though it does say that it will be more powerful and come with enhancements. What those might be is still unclear. Rumors have suggested that a Exynos 5420 has been in development and we expect that to be the processor that Samsung announces next week. Furthermore, we expect that this could be the processor found in the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, or, at least one of them.

It’s possible that Samsung could take an approach similar to the Galaxy S4 and launch two different variants of the device, one with the Snapdragon 800 and one with the Exynos 5 Octa.

The Exynos 5 Octa processor was originally announced at CES 2013 and it made its official debut inside the Samsung Galaxy S4 earlier this year. The processor features eight cores, and not four, though only four of those cores are in action at any given time. The chip decides which cores to use based on the actions being taken with the phone.

There is no guarantee that this will be the processor found inside the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 but given the timing of the announcement and the Galaxy Note 3’s rumored September launch, it appears likely.

Other rumored specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 include a 5.7-inch display with 1080p resolution and a 13MP camera, both changes from the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the company’s current Galaxy Note.
