How to Stop iPhone Repeat Vibration Alerts
For the average iPhone user notifications are somewhat of a blessing and a curse. While they successfully alert the user with new messages, they are somewhat of a nuisance.
One of the biggest culprits of this are text messages and iMessages. Unlike other notifications, these are especially annoying since they occur most often on the device. Repeat alerts vibrate your iPhone every two minutes if the last text or iMessage that you received wasn’t opened. This alert can then be set a certain number of times as to remind the user of a new message. While this feature does its job, it can be set to happen more or less depending on how you would like it to remind you.
To set how many times this occurs the settings are configured in the notification center. Follow the guide below to limit the number of repeat alerts you receive with iPhone messages.
From the home screen. Tap Settings.
Scroll down and tap Notifications.
Once under the Notification settings, find the Messages app and select it.
Under Messages tap Repeat Alert.
The Repeat Alert setting can then be set with the options on this screen:
Personally I am forgetful and I like the repeat alert set at twice just to make sure that I read a message. For others once, or never, might be the better option both to decrease distraction and avoid multiple alerts for the same notification. The less distractions that the iPhone creates, the more it helps you to stay focused on tasks and get more done throughout the work day.
Between text messages, emails and other app notifications it is easy for notifications to get out of hand. And while features such as do not disturb help to limit the distractions, the less app notifications allowed to ring through the better. With a little work you can group and manage notifications such that they are much less intrusive.
A good start to organizing your notifications is looking at the apps that you use most on the iPhone. Once you figure out which apps are most commonly used, start eliminating unnecessary notifications from those apps. For the rest of the apps disable most of the alerts especially for games and other apps that are not used often.
