Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update Spotted, More Updates Rumored

Published

on

A new leak shows the Samsung Galaxy S3 running Android 4.3 days ahead of a Google event where we should see the new version of Android and the Nexus 7 2 unveiled. Additional details point to a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update and a Galaxy S4 update as well as work being underway on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.3 build.

Android 4.3 is an update to Android that appears to mainly focus on bug fixes and improved performance, but based on leaks a few new Android 4.3 features coming.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is over a year-old and users were eagerly awaiting Android 4.2.2, but it looks like they may need to wait a bit longer and make a jump directly to Android 4.3.

The latest rumors indicate Samsung plans to skip the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2.2 updates, jumping directly to Android 4.3. Last week Gotta Be Mobile discovered a carrier update page that shows Samsung plans to skip Android 4.2 on the Galaxy Note 2 in favor of a new version of Android.

This morning news from India shows a Samsung Galaxy S3 running Android 4.3. Temefy delivers the image showing a test build of Android 4.3 on the Samsung Galaxy S3.

According to the report, Samsung is working on Android 4.2.2 and Android 4.3 updates for the Samsung Galaxy S3, but if Google announces Android 4.3 this week Samsung could drop the Android 4.2 Galaxy S3 update altogether. The leak comes from a source at Samsung R&D India.

The source also claims that Samsung is already working on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update, though does not give any details about the timing of the release. There is also reportedly a team working on Android 4.3 for the Samsung Galaxy S4 and another device. The insider claims this other device is the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is reportedly on track for a September announcement, and could arrive with Android 4.3 on board. The Note 3 will reportedly bring a 5.7-inch 1080P display, 13MP camera with Xenon flash and in some regions will sport a new Exynos processor. It is likely that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be the first smartphone to launch with Android 4.3 on board.

The Google event this week will very likely bring a Android 4.3 nexus release, but tradition dictates non-Nexus device owners will need to wait for an official Android 4.3 update to clear Samsung and U.S. carriers, which is not a quick process.

The picture of the Sammy GS3 looks fake! The android version in the above pic is labeled 4.3.0. From my experience, it should only say 4.3. Also the graphics on the screen look to be fake. I doubt Samsung will update their devices to 4.3 immediately. The Nexus devices will get the update first obviously. Its going to take Samsung at least a couple weeks to tweak the update to play nice with TouchWiz. The new galaxy note 3 could ship with 4.3 since its not available to September. But as far as the gs3, don’t count on an update to 4.3. As said in this article, they haven’t even received 4.2.2.

Gs3 owners have been waiting and waiting for the 4.2.2 update and we still don’t have it. I wish they would make there mind up on 4.2.2 or 4.3 and give us one of them now. We have waited long enough.

It’s a fake. Version 4.3 should use the building code JWR not JDQ (which corresponds to 4.2).
