Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Feature Reportedly Axed

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3, rumored to be launching in September, will be coming with a list of high-end specifications but it appears that a fingerprint reader will not be one of them as the company reportedly has dropped the feature from the device in the final stage of development.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 has emerged as one of the most highly anticipated smartphones of the year, thanks in part to the success of the Galaxy Note 2 and the massive amount of rumors that have emerged in the past few months.

Rumors have left virtually no stone unturned with whispers pointing to a 5.7-inch 1080p device with a quad-core processor, 13MP camera, and a design that could be a whole lot slimmer than the Galaxy Note 2. The device is rumored to be hitting AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon at the very least and could do so in late September after a September launch ahead of IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany.

And while the device will be coming with a host of features, it appears that the company has dropped at least one in the final stages of development as Korean publication ETNews reports that Samsung dropped a fingerprint reader from the Galaxy Note 3 due to supply issues. Reports have claimed that Apple, which has been rumored to be including a fingerprint reader in the iPhone 5S, has been seeing the same issue.

A fingerprint reader would give Galaxy Note 3 owners added security to a device that will likely already come with several security measures including Samsung KNOX.

A Verizon Galaxy Note 2 update, possibly Android 4.1.2, will soon bring more Multi-View apps.

The Galaxy Note 3 should come to Verizon.

With both the Galaxy Note and iPhone being popular brands, the companies will need to ensure that there is ample supply available in order to maximize sales. Samsung could ultimately change its mind but at this point, given this news and given that we haven’t heard much about the potential of a fingerprint reader, consumers should start tempering their expectations when it comes to the Galaxy Note 3.

Fortunately, the device will apparently come with a host of other big time features to hold buyers over and it should also arrive on a large swath of U.S. carriers, something that doesn’t always occur with big name devices.

No date is set in stone for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch but September 4th and September 6th have emerged as front-runners.

Finger print readers, breathalyzers, iris scanners, pregnancy testers, calorie counters, pedometers, Altimeters, I can hardly wait for the phone that turns in the crook that took it.

I’d rather Samsung put something more practical on the Note 3 like better stereo speakers for that big screen. As HTC did for the One. The audio on that device is hilariously loud. I love it.
