Don’t Expect an HTC One Android 4.3 Update in the U.S. Anytime Soon

Published

Owners of the HTC One on AT&T should not be on the look out for an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update any time soon as the carrier will more than likely be updating its HTC One model with Android 4.2 first and then update the device with the latest Android update, Android 4.3

The AT&T HTC One, like the T-Mobile and Sprint models, remains on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the software that came stock with the devices back in April of this year. The Android 4.1 update was originally released back in July or last year and has subsequently been surpassed by not one, but two Android updates including Android 4.2 and Android 4.2.

The HTC One Max is rumored for September with a 6-inch display.

Don’t expect the HTC One Android 4.3 update in the U.S. anytime soon.

Android 4.2 recently rolled out to HTC One owners across the globe though the software remains missing in the United States. While the upcoming Verizon HTC One is expected to carry Android 4.2 on board, the AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile variants haven’t seen any Android 4.2 news.

Last week, Google began rolling out yet another Android update, Android 4.3, which has hit several Nexus devices and is said to be coming to the international HTC One in the near future. And while owners of HTC One devices in the U.S. are likely holding out that their devices skip Android 4.2 for Android 4.3, a well-known leakster has put that idea to rest.

@LLabTooFer is known for his accurate inside information in regards to HTC updates. Recently, he said that the U.S. models would get Android 4.2 Jelly Bean before Android 4.3 and those plans do not seem to have changed, even with the release of Android 4.3 and the fact that Samsung has seemingly skipped over Android 4.2 for Android 4.3.

In response to a question from an AT&T HTC One owner, he exclaims that the AT&T model will be getting Android 4.2 and then Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Of course, plans can change and he isn’t HTC, but he has been accurate with information in the past.

Given that Android 4.2 has already started rolling out, this isn’t surprising, but it likely means that an Android 4.3 update probably isn’t anywhere close to touching down for HTC One owners in the United States.

My HTC One Google edition came with 4.2.2 three weeks ago, and today i found an update waiting to be installed. Though i haven’t installed it, it likely is 4.3.
