HTC One X Android 4.2.2 Update Hits Snag

The HTC One X Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5 update, which had been expected by at least one carrier in July, apparently has hit a snag in the development process causing the update to be sent back to HTC with untold consequences.

Since HTC announced an HTC Sense 5 update for the HTC One X in February, rumors about the update have been swirling with some whispering suggesting that it will be out sometime this summer. Summer ends in late September so HTC still has time to meet that rumored goal. The software is also expected to bring Android 4.2.2 along with it, something that HTC One X owners are genuinely excited about thanks to the upgrades of it, and those of Sense 5.

There were rumors that the update could land as soon as July, rumors that were fueled by a leaked document that indicated that French carrier SFR was planning to roll out the software in July. Unless the software rolls out today, those plans have changed.

According to ClubSFR, it appears that the HTC One X Android 4.2.2 update, at least on SFR, has suffered a setback thanks to a “significant anomaly.” The issue, or issues, are not disclosed though it appears that the software was sent back to HTC and development teams there are working on a new version of the software.

SFR is apparently planning on rolling out Android 4.2 and Sense 5 to the HTC One XL in August.

Whether or not this affects all versions of the HTC One X Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5 update remains unclear. The report suggests that due to the snag, SFR no longer has any sort of timing for the update and that information will be delivered when it becomes available.

There is some good news afoot as the report also outs a screenshot of the HTC One XL Android 4.2.2 update that is being tested by SFR. It appears that the update will be rolling out to the device sometime in August though no specific date is known.

HTC, for its part, has yet to issue any time frames for the HTC One X update or HTC One XL update so any and all time lines that emerge are subject to change at any given moment.
