Carriers may not be talking Moto X release dates just yet but that hasn’t stopped U.S. Cellular, the nation’s fifth largest carrier, from announcing Moto X pre-orders ahead of its release date.

In New York City today, Motorola unveiled its latest flagship smartphone dubbed Moto X, a device that will be assembled in the United States and a device that is bringing tons of choice to consumers. For one, the device will come with something called Moto Maker which will allow users to choose from over 2,000 design combinations including casings and colors. That device will be an exclusive on AT&T, from the start, though it will move to other carriers like Verizon later this year.

The device also offers choice when it comes to carriers as it will be available on all five of the nation’s largest service providers including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon. Carriers remain coy about release date details though one carrier has taken it upon itself to start offering the device ahead of its late August, early September release window.

U.S. Cellular, the United States’ fifth largest carrier, is now offering pre-orders on the non-customizable version of the Moto X which in woven white and woven black. Like the other carriers, U.S. Cellular is offering it for $199.99 on-contract though the price comes with a rebate. It also looks like it is offering a switcher bonus which drops the price for those switching carriers to a paltry $125.

The carrier will also throw in a Motorola boom headset to sweeten the deal, a device that has a retail value of $60.

U.S. Cellular becomes the first carrier to start offering pre-orders as carriers like AT&T and Sprint seem content with splash pages offering buyers a chance to sign up for more information. We imagine that other carriers will begin offering pre-orders later this month, they just haven’t announced when.

The Moto X features a 4.7-inch 720p display, dual-core processor, LTE data speeds, 10MP Clear Pixel camera, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It will receive updates from Motorola but software will still be subject to carrier approval.
