The Droid DNA Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5 update is reportedly in testing, something that should not be surprising given that the HTC Butterfly Android 4.2 and Sense 5 update rolled out in early July.

On July 9th, the HTC Butterfly Android 4.2 and Sense 5 update began hitting users of HTC’s 5-inch 1080p smartphone bringing not only the features of Android 4.2 but also of the new Sense 5 which arrived back with the HTC One in April.

The update has yet to hit the HTC Butterfly in the United States, a device called the Droid DNA for Verizon, which is set to be replaced by the HTC One in just a few weeks. However, it does appear that Verizon is hard at work on the update, preparing it for arrival at some point down the road.

@LLabTooFeR, a notorious HTC leakster, claims that the Verizon Droid DNA Android 4.2 and Sense 5 update is currently in testing. What that means for a release date is unclear but thanks to Verizon’s rigorous testing process, it still could be some time before we see the update emerge for carrier’s aging former HTC flagship.

He has claimed that the Droid DNA could see the update roll out in a few weeks time though he also claims not to have exact details in regards to timing. Still, any news is good news for Droid DNA owners who have been on Sense 4+ and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean since November of last year.

The Droid DNA Android 4.2 and Sense 5 update is just one of several rumored updates for HTC’s older devices as the HTC One X, HTC One XL, HTC One X+ and others are rumored to be getting Sense 5 and Android 4.2 at some point down the road. Thus far, HTC has yet to confirm Android 4.2 for any other devices but it’s clear that the software will be heading to more devices than the Butterfly and the HTC One.

Sounds awesome! Thanks Adam! I really hope it comes soon, because Sense 4+ is getting boring.

It’s about time us DNA users get a update, because it seems that everytime a new smartphone or tablets comes out the providers forget about their previous devices. The droid DNA is only nine months old and you mean to tell me its a possibility that it may be getting a update, I think when a new device is coming out with a newer update all of that individual providers phone should be updated as well, its sad how providers make all this money claiming the latest phone they come out with is the best, but can’t even keep the updated because they’re so focused on the next project leaving users wondering when the next update is available.
