New Nexus 7 Deal Better Than It Seems

Published

on

Another new Nexus 7 deal has sprouted up shortly after its release though this one, through OfficeMax, is a little sweeter than it portrays itself to be.

In the aftermath of the new Nexus 7 launch, we saw retailer Staples offer a deal for Google’s new tablet and one that caused the retailer to promptly sell out of its stock online. The deal didn’t completely slash the price of the new Nexus 7, which starts at $230, but it did offer enough of a discount to be attractive to buyers.

We haven’t seen a ton of deals on the Nexus 7 but another one has emerged shortly after launch with OfficeMax becoming the latest retailer to offer a discount on Google’s popular 7-inch tablet.

OfficeMax currently has a great deal on the Nexus 7.

The deal, first noted by Android Police, offers buyers a 20% discount on a range of products, including tablets and eReaders. The Nexus 7 just so happens to be a tablet, making this deal compatible with the new Nexus 7. What this means is that users who buy the 32GB Nexus 7 through OfficeMax, it doesn’t sell the 16GB model, can get it for around $215, or 20% off the $270 price.

The deal lasts through August 10th which leaves those interested in taking the price down with only a limited amount of time to do so. August 10th resides on Saturday of this month. The offer also applies to those who can reach an OfficeMax store. It’s not available online.

The iPad mini 2 with Retina Display could better compete with the new Nexus 7's high-resolution display.

The Nexus 7 is cheaper than the iPad mini and even cheaper with this discount.

It also looks like this deal is actually a little sweeter than it appears as buyers are reporting that their have been able to take the email to competitors like Best Buy to match the price and receive a discount. Retailers often match prices of their competitors so this isn’t anything new, but it is something that is not written on the wall.

The mileage is going to vary with this, meaning it may not work for everyone at every store, but those that have been looking for a cheap Nexus 7 or a discount on one that was just purchased through a competitor would be wise to give it a shot.

The Nexus 7 is Google’s current 7-inch slate and it brings a whole lot of new to the table including a 7-inch 1080p display, quad-core processor, slim design, Android 4.3 and more.

A 4G LTE model will be out in the coming weeks.

Load of Horse Hockey. OfficeMax in my area informed me the day before yesterday that they were out of the new Nexus 7, and that they were unable to order it. No retailer in my area (Office Depot, WalMart, BestBuy, Staples, etc) would match the coupon; all of them stated that they don’t match coupons, but only stated prices for the device.

Slightly upset since I drove over half an hour to place an order with the coupon right after I was told I could do that. I can now see why OfficeMax is going out of business.

I hate office max. They have pulled crap like this for the past decade that they opened stores in my home town. They’re not even an option for me anymore. I’m not chasing that dangling carrot again. Sorry that happened to you dude. That bites. Did you ever get a tablet?
