Nexus 7 LTE Release Date Weeks Away

Published

on

The Nexus 7 LTE release date still hasn’t been announced by Google but it appears that Asus Italy may have spilled the beans already suggesting that the device will be landing, in Italy, during the month of September.

In late July, Google announced the new Nexus 7, a true successor to the original Nexus 7 that had launched the previous year. The device comes packed with a host of upgrades including a higher resolution display, thinner design, and 4G LTE data speeds. Problem is, while the Wi-Fi only model is out on shelves, consumers looking to snag the 4G LTE model still haven’t had the opportunity as the the Nexus 7 LTE release date still hasn’t emerged from the shadows. That, however, doesn’t mean we haven’t seen rumblings about its date though.

The Nexus 7 LTE release date will come in September in Italy.

Earlier this month, we heard that Japan might be getting the Nexus 7 LTE in August though that date has come under scrutiny in recent days. Today though, it appears that official information has indeed emerged.

According to Notebook Italia, Asus Italy claims that the Nexus 7 LTE will be landing in Italy during the month of September, no specific date given. The company’s Italian arm also suggests that the Nexus 7 Wi-Fi only will hit Italy on August 29th, a date that falls in line for the late August releases for numerous regions around the globe including Japan and the United Kingdom.

What’s unclear though is how this might affect the United States. While it’s now clear that the Nexus 7 LTE release is weeks away in some regions, those regions have yet to see the new Nexus 7 launch at all. The U.S. saw the Wi-Fi only model arrive shortly after the launch event.

Google also has not revealed exactly how the Nexus 7 LTE will be sold. While we know that it will be sold on the Google Play Store, there is no guarantee that it will be sold through the same retailers as the Wi-Fi only model.

The Nexus 7 LTE will utilize the exact same features as the Wi-Fi only model, only it will be able to utilize cellular data from AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. Furthermore, there will only be a single model that works across all three carriers.

The LTE model will only support HSPA+, not CDMA, so the Verizon version will not have 3G in the U.S., only LTE. AT&T and T-Mobile will support 3G. If your provider in India supports HSPA+, then you’re OK.
