Verizon HTC One Release Date: Yet Another Date Emerges

Published

on

With the arrival of the Verizon HTC One sign up page, consumers have to assume that a release date is getting closer. However, the exact date remains unknown and it appears that Verizon itself may not have a Verizon HTC One release date set in stone as another possibility has emerged today.

The Verizon HTC One was first announced back in early June and given a summer release date. However, as summer has raged on, HTC and Verizon still haven’t given prospective buyers any concrete information in regards to the HTC One. Instead, we’ve seen the carrier silently kill off the Droid DNA and Droid Incredible 4G LTE while also launching an HTC One sign up page, all signs that we’re getting closer to launch.

The HTC One remains unreleased on Verizon.

Rumors have suggested an assortment of release dates including August 15th and August 29th. And now, thanks to Droid-Life, we can throw another Verizon HTC release date into the hat.

Apparently, at least one retailer thinks that Verizon might be planning to release the Verizon HTC One on August 23rd. That same retailer also has heard August 29th as a possibility. So it appears that Verizon might be juggling dates around to accommodate its other smartphone launches that will be taking place during the month of August.

We know that Verizon is planning to launch the Droid MAXX and Droid Ultra in August, though it appears that their shipping dates have been pushed to August 27th. The retailer seems to think they will become available on August 27th though it appears that Verizon will still have them in stores on August 20th. The retailer also thinks the Moto X release date on Verizon will land on August 29th, something that has been rumored before. So that makes August 23rd a real possibility despite Verizon’s silence.

Given all of these launches, Verizon may be having trouble trying to find a spot for the HTC One and thus, all of the rumored release dates. Keep in mind, the press image that we’ve seen also contains a September 5th date which could allude to a September 5th release date. That remains unconfirmed as well.

Verizon’s HTC One is expected to bring all of the current HTC One features to Verizon but also add Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, something that has yet to hit the devices on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile.

How about posting when you have a release date, not another rumor? Just thinking about news vs rumor.

As usual Verizon has chosen to not only add their carrier logo but also a honking 4g lte label. With all these delays they could have given their customers a treat and had none on their phone. Oh well

Seems like Verizon is trying to pull an Apple and consumers are getting caught in the middle. I have been a verizon customer for over 10 years and I’m also an iPhone 4 (not 4s) user and my contract has been up for months. Having an old, but super functional iPhone, I feel I could use a new phone and I’ve thought heavily about going back to an android device. The HTC One seemed like the logical conclusion for me because I like media functions over the “techie” attractions. And after considering a new android device, I have been left waiting for a phone that appears to never be coming. I pay around $120.00 per month right now and Sprint and T Mobile are offering me the HTC One free (and one at $99) with a $79.00 per month deal with a 2-year contract. Looks like after 10 years, and nothing but rumors, I will be leaving Verizon for Sprint or T Mobile. It’s all BS!! They just need to give consumers what thy want or we’ll get it elsewhere – even after 10 years!!

My Verizon history is about 16+ years, contact expiring in November – I’m thinking much the same as you.

Verizon Wireless has only existed since 2000 !!! It was created from a merger of Bell Atlantic, GTE, Airtouch, Primeco, and in the last couple years they acquired Alltel.

I agree! I’ve been with Verizon for over 15 years and I waited to upgrade (wanting the HTC One) thinking it would be released WAY before now. I too will be changing carriers.

Could Gilbert & Sullivan have written a comic operetta based on this farce?

And by the way, this selling method of hanging on to coveted devices in order to generate buzz and anticipation seems to only work when the device is NOT already out there. Does anyone over at Verizon realize that other carriers already sell this item? And, moreover, do they realize that if we can’t get this phone with them, we’ll just get at one of those other guys? Come on Verizon, get it together guys and give the people what they want already!!

That’s not what they’re doing. They made HTC One their last priority since its already been out for months. In order of favoring their new verizon exclusives they’re trying to starve out the customers into giving up and buying their brand new summer phones and the phones that they still are stuck with in their stock. It sucks but I can assure you that’s what it is.

Maybe this is true, and if you’re right and this is true, then I believe that this would truly be an unwise way for verizon to do business. The bottom line is that in the world of big business, supply and demand is always king. So, if you’re a big cellphone company and you recognize the need for a new product that you have total control over, you only have two choices regardless of your current surplus situation when it comes to the release – sell it, or wait it out in order to increase demand. This is an old selling ploy that has been done for decades, which I get, but don’t agree with at all, but those are essentially the only choices. However, if what you say is true, then that move would mean that there is no product or consumer consideration being given at all. The only consideration would be to Verizon’s surplus needs – WHAT?! Getting rid of existing surplus should never be a big enough issue that it would affect the release of major product – especially a big company like Verizon. Online sales, freestanding retailer events and other promotions usually take care of those surplus concerns and should never effect the evolution of new products. It could be true but I just find it hard to believe that back stock, at least in this case, could control, much-less dictate, the release of new product

Anybody else sign up for “information” on the HTC One or Moto X? I did. And after I did, I thought to myself how ridiculous it was to have “information” sign up pages…

The only information left is release date. Literally every other detail about either of these phones has been covered or enjoyed for months on other carriers (not Moto X obviously).

So basically I signed up to get a…

Oh, btw, the HTC One/Moto X is in our stores now. We should have charged you extra to wait this long for our bloated flagships that most carriers offered months ago.

    You’re welcome,

    Verizon

In all fairness, this could be an HTC issue and Verizon could just be held hostage by the lack of a suitable agreement with them. Still, if you’re Verizon and you know that you’re releasing this phone at some point, you gotta keep your customers completely informed and updated as much as possible. because if this is the case, we might just be able to forgive the tardiness in releasing the phone and all that other public relations junk we are made to endure. You just can’t treat loyal customers this way!
