iPhone 5S Release Date Again Pegged for September 20th

The iPhone 5S release date, along with the iPhone 5C release date, have once again been pegged for September 20th with a new report claiming that that will be the day that the devices touch down in Japan.

Apple is still not ready to talk about the iPhone 5S or the iPhone 5C but thanks to leaks, consumers are getting a glimpse at what to expect from the company in terms of launch and release dates. Already, we’ve seen September 10th pegged as a near certainty for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C launch date and now, thanks to leaks, it’s looking like the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C release date will touch down on September 20th.

Yesterday, a report claimed that the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C release date would surface on September 20th, in Greece. And now, a report from Nikkei suggests that September 20th is indeed the day that the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will be landing, at least in Japan. The report notes that the release dates will fall after a September 10th launch date for both devices and that the gold iPhone 5S should be landing as well.

Apple still hasn’t confirmed September 10th for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C launch but given the leaks, it’s looking like that will be the day. Typically, Apple releases its iPhone model  just a few short days after it announces it, in this case them, and so September 20th is not outside the realm of possibility. Last year’s iPhone 5 arrived nine days after it was announced.

iOS updates generally arrive a few days before a new iPhone which means that iOS 7 could roll out anywhere between September 10th and September 20th, should these dates hold up.

Japan was amongst the first countries that got the iPhone 5S which means that September 20th could be the first release date for the iPhone 5S. The United States is typically amongst the first regions to get the iPhone as well, meaning September 20th could apply to it as well.

The iPhone 5S is expected to replace the iPhone 5, Apple’s current iPhone model, by tacking on some new features including an upgraded camera. It is, however, expected to retain the iPhone 5’s design.

The company’s iPhone 5C is expected to be a cheap plastic iPhone that features a 4-inch Retina Display, Lightning port and a price that will put it on par with the many cheap Android smartphones on the market.

Apple is rumored to be pushing out the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 or the iPhone 5 with the iPhone 5C though none of that is confirmed. And given how closely Apple guards many of its details, consumers may not know exactly what will happen until Apple announces it.
