Motorola Droid Mini Release Date Moved Up

The Motorola Droid Mini release date has seemingly moved up from August 29th to August 22nd, the same day that Verizon will unleash the long awaited HTC One unto the world.

Earlier this year, Verizon announced that the Motorola Droid Mini would be released just a few days after the Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX. While the Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX were given an August 20th release date, the Droid mini was tagged with an August 29th release date, just over a week after its larger Droid siblings.

It now appears that Verizon has quietly moved the Droid Mini release date up from August 29th to August 22nd, the same day that the carrier plans to put the HTC One on shelves for the first time. We have confirmed with Verizon that the change in shipping date for the Droid Mini, which now sits at August 22nd, also coincides with its in-store and online release date. This means that the smaller Droid is now going to be on sale a week earlier than expected.

The device is expected to content with the likes of the Galaxy S4 Mini and HTC One mini, both of which are heading to shelves in the United States in the weeks ahead. And like the Galaxy S4 Mini and HTC One Mini, the device will be a smaller version of its flagship counterparts.

The Droid Mini comes with a solid 4.3-inch HD display, same size as the HTC One mini’s display, a dual-core processor, an extremely durable design that is made out of Kevlar, smart software and a solid camera. It’s also going to stand out to consumers thanks to the device’s relatively cheap price tag.

While the Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX command price tags over $199, the Droid Mini checks in at $99.99, a much more affordable price.

The Droid Mini and HTC One releases will be followed by the anticipated release of the Moto X, another Motorola smartphone, that is expected to arrive in just a few days on Verizon’s 4G LTE network.
