It has taken months, but the Verizon HTC One has finally shown up in the wild ahead of its release date later this week.
In early June, HTC and Verizon quietly announced the Verizon HTC One. The announcement was quiet as the carrier took to Twitter to confirm the device and even then, all it would say was that it was going to be releasing the flagship smartphone sometime this summer.
For weeks, consumers struggled to find answers in regards to the device’s looks, release date, pricing, and more. And it wasn’t until earlier this month that Verizon once again talked about the Verizon HTC One, quietly revealing its release date, pricing and more.
Rather than issue a press release, the carrier took to Twitter to announce only a few details regarding the HTC One. It revealed that it would be offering it on August 22nd both in stores and online, that it would be charging $199.99 and that it would have 4G LTE data. Verizon representatives quickly confirmed several other details through social media including the fact that it would only be coming in silver, for now at least, that it would be the 32GB model and that it would cost $599.99 off-contract.
And while the company confirmed all of those details, it still hadn’t shown off the device, clearly, in the flesh. Indeed, we had seen the device show up in a promo on its Facebook page but it didn’t offer any details or even a good look at the device. Finally though, the device has appeared in the wild, just a day ahead of its release.
Droid-Life procured a photo taken at a Verizon store that clearly shows the device, in silver, arriving ahead of its release. The box depicts the HTC One that we’ve seen many times over and it has the Verizon logo front and center confirming that this isn’t a unicorn.
Evidently, black Verizon HTC One models have been spotted though there is no sign that they will be on sale when the device goes on sale tomorrow. The blue HTC One, which has been rumored for Verizon, remains no where to be seen.
With no pre-order, Verizon customers will be forced to order online or in-stores starting tomorrow though given how late the launch is, those looking to buy shouldn’t run into any problems trying to do so.
