Samsung Galaxy Note 3: New Details Ahead of Launch

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to heavily rely on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor with a majority of Galaxy Note 3 variants expected to run Qualcomm’s chip rather than Samsung’s internal Exynos 5420, also known as the Exynos 5 Octa.

For months now, rumors have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be running a combination of the new Exynos 5 Octa, known as the Exynos 5420, and Qualcomm’s current generation top of the line quad-core processor, the Snapdragon 800. This has been rumored numerous times and it’s all but confirmed to be the case.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to replace the Galaxy Note 2.

Today though, some new details in regards to the Galaxy Note 3 processor situation have emerged with ETNews suggesting that a majority of Galaxy Note 3 variants will be running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. This backs up Galaxy Note 3 launch details that we heard about recently, details that suggested that the company would be heavily reliant upon Qualcomm’s chip.

The report claims that at least part of the reason Samsung is going with the Snapdragon 800 is up to 80% of its Galaxy Note 3 models is because it is having heat issues with the Exynos 5420. Samsung reportedly will put Exynos 5 Octa processors into only 20% or 30% of its yield with the Snapdragon 800 expected to make up a bulk of the initial release.

This remains unconfirmed but should it play out this way, consumers likely won’t notice a substantial difference. Both processors claim to offer enhanced performance, particularly for things like gaming and multitasking, and they both are keen on preserving battery life, a key smartphone battleground.

Look for a new design from the Galaxy Note 3.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 used two different processors as well.

Samsung split processors with the Galaxy S4 with some users getting an older version of the Exynos 5 Octa and some users getting the Snapdragon 600. Both variants remain among the most popular, and most powerful, smartphones on the market.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to feature a number of other powerful features as well including a large 1080p display, a 13MP camera, 3GB of RAM, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the latest update from Google. Rumors had been flowing out ahead of launch though they have seemingly slowed to a trickle. The device’s overall design still remains a mystery.

Samsung is expected to show off the device on September 4th in Berlin, Germany ahead of IFA 2013 with a release date pegged for sometime in September. A specific release date for the device is not yet known but Samsung has been working to shorten the time between launch and release with its flagship devices.

LINK BAIT. Seems that all Adam does is regurgitate the same story every day or two for more link bait to the site. The same “news” is the same stuff he has already posted. We know pretty much everything about the phone except when its actually going to ship and to which US carriers on what dates. Other than that where is the real news.

I have the original Note and thought it couldn’t be beat until the Note 2 came out. I’ll be able to upgrade soon and am holding off for the Note 3 launch. The only feature that interests me is the S-pen capability and any new apps for it. I use the S note all the time but unfortunately Samsung never made them compatible to be shared and edited across other Note devices like a document. I can’t wait for launch day! Whether or not the S-note app has a lot of new features will determine whether I get in line for a Note 3, or will be happy with a reduced price Note 2. I have the Note 10.1 tablet and just love having a dual screen and can’t wait to get that on a phone!
