How To Control Your TV with the HTC One

Published

on

While it isn’t one of the HTC One’s most notable features, being able to control your television set quickly becomes useful for HTC One owners who tend to lose the remote often, or who want to dispense with clunky universal remotes altogether. Here’s how to control your TV with the HTC One.

You’ll need to be in the same room as the television set with your HTC One before you begin the setup process.

The HTC One TV app will now automatically populate with all the television shows that are available on your on-demand services and the cable or satellite service that you added during this part of the tutorial. You can tap on any of these programs and have the television app automatically change the channel on your television or cable box.

You’ve successfully enabled your HTC One to control your television, now you’ll never have to find your remote when you need it. Remember, once you open the television application, it’s always available quickly from your HTC One’s Notification shade. Simply touch your screen or swipe down from the top of your device to quickly change channels.

It doesn’t quite work perfectly for cable boxes (like DishNetwork… I don’t have the ability to skip ahead or back to get through commercials, unless I just let it freely scan through). I wish I could control my DVD player from it… any tips for that?

I want to be able to walk in a sports bar and control the tv that is already turned on. Is that possible?
