Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update Reportedly Close

Alleged Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean details have leaked on the eve of Samsung’s September 4th Galaxy Note 3 launch event in Berlin, Germany.

Back in September, Samsung rolled out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S3, its former flagship. Since then, we haven’t seen a major Android update roll out leaving users wondering about Samsung’s plans. So far, the company has remained silent, even as Galaxy S3 Android update rumors have waged on.

Initially, the device was thought to be getting Android 4.2 Jelly Bean sometime during the summer though those plans were reportedly shelved in favor of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. That notion was backed up by statements from German carrier Telekom who claimed that its Galaxy S3 would be getting Android 4.3 not Android 4.2.

Today, just a day before the Galaxy Note 3 launch, come more possible Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 details from Temefy, the same site that claimed that the Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 update would be skipped for a newer update.

The site has produced an image of what it claims is a Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 test build in the wild, apparently running on the phone of someone in Samsung India’s Research and Development department. The photo clearly shows Android 4.3 Jelly Bean running on the device. It’s impossible to verify the authenticity of the image so it should be taken with some salt.

This build is apparently a test build that is ready for arrival and one that could roll out soon after the Galaxy Note 3 is announced. The Galaxy Note 3 is expected to have Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on board as well.

The report makes no mention of the Galaxy Note 2 or Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates, neither of which have rolled out just yet. The Galaxy Note 2, like the Galaxy S3, is expected to make the jump straight to Android 4.3. The Galaxy S4 currently sits on Android 4.2 while the Google Edition was recently updated with Android 4.3.

There is no doubt that Samsung is hard at work on the Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. And it’s possible that we could see the company announce details on stage tomorrow at its Galaxy Note 3 event as we’ve seen Samsung do that before in the past.

However, at this point, it’s best to take this information lightly as software release timing and plans are subject to change.
