Samsung Galaxy Note 3 16GB Isn’t an Option

Published

Rumors suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 would not come in 16GB form and as it turns out, those rumors were true as Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy Note 3 will come in 32GB and 64GB form when it arrives later on this year.

Prior to today’s Galaxy Note 3 launch, there were rumors that Samsung might be canning the 16GB version of the Galaxy Note series. The two previous models arrived with 16GB in the United States with expandable memory through the microSD card though users had been championing for more on board storage space for quite some time.

Samsung delivered on those rumors and requests today as the company confirmed that the Galaxy Note 3 would be coming to shelves in 32GB and 64GB form rather than the 16GB option of old. The company did not give any reasons for killing off the 16GB model that had accompanied the device previously though it likely had something to do with the complaints about the 16GB Galaxy S4.

Almost immediately after the Galaxy S4 arrived, users began complaining about the amount of on board storage that was taken up by the device’s software. With the Galaxy Note 3 coming with some big time software including S Pen apps and useful multitasking features, Samsung likely made the decision to drop the 16GB model to ensure that that Galaxy Note 3 owners would have ample space and less reason to complain.

The Galaxy S4 came in 16GB form to some carriers and 16GB and 32GB to others.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will retain a microSD card slot for expanded storage which means users will be able to get up to 128GB of storage on the new Galaxy Note. Traditionally, U.S. carriers have only carried one model so it could be that they only offer the 32GB model rather than carry both.

We haven’t seen U.S. carriers confirm the big Galaxy Note 3 details as of yet, leaving the door open for a larger variant. Carriers should confirm their intentions in the weeks ahead, ahead of the device’s October release date in the United States.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will come with a number of upgrades over the Galaxy Note 2, including the increased storage space. It will feature a larger display, thinner and lighter design that employs a faux leather back, a new 13MP camera capable of 120fps, new S Pen features, speedy processor and advanced LTE.
