Everything You Need to Know About the iPhone 5S & iOS 7 Event

By  |  2 Comments

Tomorrow, Apple is hosting a media event in Cupertino wherein the company should show off a number of new products including the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C while also revealing an iOS 7 release date for owners of its older devices. Here, we take a look at what and what not to expect from tomorrow’s iPhone 5S and iOS 7 event.

Over the better part of 2013, we saw a number of rumors emerge in regard to Apple’s plans for its new iPhone. At first, rumors pointed to a possible iPhone launch at WWDC 2013, Apple’s annual developer conference, and a locale that used to serve as the iPhone’s launching pad. Those rumors turned out to be false as the company instead focused on two new pieces of software, iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks.

Since WWDC, we’ve seen iOS 7 betas and OS X Mavericks previews land in the hands of developers as they work to help Apple ensure a smooth public release.

In addition, we’ve seen countless rumors emerge about Apple’s iPhone, or, in this case, iPhones. Initially, the company had been rumored to be coming out with one new iPhone, an iPhone 5 successor known as the iPhone 5S. However, as time passed, it became clear that the iPhone 5S would be joined by an iPhone 5C.

Given Apple’s history, those likely won’t be the only products detailed tomorrow at the company’s annual iPhone event. There will likely be some other announcements as well.

Apple, for its part, hasn’t said what it will be announcing tomorrow, only that it should brighten the day of its customers. And while it hasn’t said what it will reveal, rumors, leaks, speculation and good old common sense have delivered a pretty clear-cut list about what lies ahead during tomorrow’s event.

Here is exactly what to expect, and what not to expect, from tomorrow’s iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iOS 7 event.

iPhone 5S

First and foremost, we expect Apple to detail the iPhone 5S, a device that will come to replace the iPhone 5 as the company's flagship smartphone.

Rumors suggest that the device will keep the same design and screen as the iPhone 5, but will come with several enhancements including a fingerprint reader for added security, improved camera, better processor, and a gold champagne color that should join the white and black models.

We've been able to confirm the iPhone 5S U.S. release date for September 20th and we fully expect Apple to confirm that to be the case during tomorrow's event.
