Nexus 7 LTE Release Date Misses U.S., Again

Published

on

The Nexus 7 LTE, which is already quietly available in some places and is set to officially arrive in some regions in September, still doesn’t have a release date in the United States and unfortunately, a new Nexus 7 LTE release date missed the United States.

Just a short time ago, Google announced that the Nexus 7 LTE would be hitting Japan in September, though it declined to offer a specific date. The announcement came after Asus Italy confirmed the device for arrival in Italy in September and after some retailers, including one in Germany, began selling the Nexus 7 LTE to consumers. It also came after UK carrier O2 confirmed the device for September 13th in the UK.

The Nexus 7 LTE release date is expected to land in Japan in and around September 20th.

It now appears that Amazon may have tipped the Nexus 7 LTE release date in Japan, suggesting that it may be coming out on September 20th, earlier than was initially expected. The site is currently listing the device with an expected release date of September 20th, just a week after the device is expected to touchdown in the United Kingdom. This doesn’t set the release in stone but it does give consumers an idea of what to expect.

What this also means is that another Nexus 7 LTE release date has missed the United States, the region where the Nexus 7 Wi-Fi first went on sale, and a region that is still without a release date for the Nexus 7 LTE.

Google’s website continues to tease the device as coming soon though with September 13th fast approaching, we could see the company finally confirm a release date for the Nexus 7 LTE soon. The U.S. is a key battleground and one where Google will want to get the jump on the iPad mini 2 which is expected to arrive in October alongside the iPad 5.

The Nexus 7 LTE release is pegged for September 20th in Japan.

The new Nexus 7 was first announced back in July, meaning, it has been more than a month since the AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon compatible tablet has seen information arrive.

Google’s Nexus 7 LTE is going to command a $350 price tag, cheaper than the iPad mini 16GB LTE, and it will come with a slew of big time features including a 7-inch full HD display, quad-core processor, 5MP camera, sleek design that is both lightweight and thin, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, Google’s most current Android software.

The software is expected to be replaced by Android 4.4 KitKat sometime this year with the Nexus 5 expected to usher it in in October.
