iPhone 5S Carriers Confirmed in U.S.

The iPhone 5S will be heading to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon at the very least as Apple’s website confirms that the carriers will be offering the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C on September 20th.

Apple’s website confirmed several important details for iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C buyers today including the fact that the iPhone 5S won’t have a pre-order ahead of its release and the fact that the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C will likely be heading to several major U.S. carriers on their September 20th release date.

The company’s iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C where to buy splash page confirms the intentions of AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. AT&T confirmed to Gotta Be Mobile that it will be offering the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S starting September 20th. Pre-orders for the iPhone 5C will start on September 13th at AT&T and we expect other carriers to follow suit.

AT&T did not say whether it would be offering an iPhone 5S pre-order, only that it would have the device available in-stores on September 20th. What this means is that the iPhone 5S may not be available ahead of September 20th through Apple or through carriers.

Verizon also used a canned response, telling Gotta Be Mobile:

Verizon today announced it will offer iPhone 5s, the most forward-thinking smartphone in the world, and iPhone 5c, the most colorful iPhone yet, to customers beginning on Friday, September 20. iPhone 5c will be available for pre-order on Friday, September 13.

U.S. Cellular, expected to carry the iPhone at some point, told Gotta Be Mobile that it does not have iPhone details to share at this time but that it “will soon be carrying iPhone products.” It did not reveal what those products are and the carrier is not listed on Apple’s website, a sign that it could get the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C after the big four do.

The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will be heading to four carriers in the U.S. on release day it seems.

In the past, we’ve seen Apple’s iPhone trickle out to regional and pre-paid carriers in the days after the major U.S. carriers get the new iPhone. That said, we should see carriers like C Spire and Cricket Wireless confirm the iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C for arrival in the days ahead.

Apple’s website offers further proof, showing iPhone 5S carrier support for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. U.S. Cellular is not listed. The iPhone 5S is also listed for order and AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon are all listed as options.

The iPhone 5S will be coming with a number of big time upgrades including a better camera, A7 processor, fingerprint reader and a champagne gold color option. The iPhone 5C will be Apple’s plastic iPhone model that will come with a 4-inch display, 8MP camera, and iOS 7. The two devices will push out the iPhone 5 though Apple will keep the iPhone 4S on sale as its free device.

Carriers will likely offer the iPhone 5S starting at $199.99 while the iPhone 5C will start at $99.99. Both prices will come on-contract. The iPhone 5C will be offered starting at $549 off-contract.

Does this mean that iwth the Iphone 5s on Verizon you will be able to talk and surf the way you can with AT&T?

Unfortunately not. It has nothing to do with the phone but the kind of antenna and frequency the two carriers use. AT&T towers allow for both talk and surf, but the amount of in and out traffic at any given time has a smaller maximum number than that of Verizon. The carriers had to choose between talk and surf or fewer dropped calls, Verizon went with the latter
