HTC Android 4.4 & Android 4.3 Update Rumors Swirl

HTC Android 4.4 KitKat update and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update rumors have begun to swirl with a known HTC insider predicting updates for several devices including updates for the Droid DNA, HTC One X+ and the HTC One X.

In late July, Google announced a new Android update called Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, an update that has since replaced Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as the most current version of Google software on Android devices. Just a few weeks ago, Google surprised the Android world by announcing yet another Android update, Android 4.4 KitKat, a new OS that will be rolling out at some point in the future.

Details about Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates have been scarce and Android 4.4 KitKat details even scarcer. But that doesn’t mean that rumors aren’t swirling. In fact, we’ve heard some details about a couple of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates, updates for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 that will likely roll out in October. We’ve also heard that the Android 4.4 KitKat update won’t be rolling out the HTC One X.

Today, noted HTC leakster LLabTooFeR has offered some insight on a few HTC Android updates. The insider claims, without hesitation, that the HTC One X+ will not get Android 4.4 KitKat, simply saying “nope.” This fall in line with what he said recently about the HTC One X Android 4.4 update. HTC has been known to kill support after 18 months and the HTC One X+ isn’t getting any younger.

He also claims that he think that the Droid DNA will get updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Sense 5.5, the latter being a new version of Sense that is rumored for the HTC One. The Droid DNA is Verizon’s version of the HTC Butterfly.

Finally, he says that he doesn’t think that the HTC One X will get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, meaning, he thinks it will stay on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

None of this is confirmed, and it’s possible that we’ll see it play out different, but LLabTooFeR has a solid track record when it comes to predicting HTC software and so his insight is valuable.

For its part, HTC has yet to announce its plans for Android 4.3 and Android 4.4 and we don’t expect it to given its past let downs. Most recently, the company promised Sense 5 to HTC One S owners only to wind up cancelling it, and Android 4.2, months down the road.

I’ve been an Android HTC user since time immemorial, rite from the WildFire, HTC Desire A8181, HTC One X and now HTC One.

Initially HTC was one of the industry leaders in OTA Updates. But right now, I feel disappointed that HTC has been failing us loyal HTC owners. They are slow, unlike Samsung and LG.

So all these rumors about HTC updating to newer Android versions is just HTC marketing ploy to maintain their hold on HTC owners. They’re just what they are – just talk.

Perhaps it’s time for me to move on from HTC.

Time to leave HTC, for sure. I hate not getting an update. Moving to Samsung because HTC is a bunch of liars who don’t value their customers.

Samsung is not any better. I’ve been stuck on 4.1.2 for like 9 months now. My mom’s galaxy note 2 has been also stuck with 4.1.2 since it was launch.

Nexus or google edition phones are the only solution to this madness.

It’s because Samsung gave the SII Jelly Bean that people think Samsung has better support.

HTC has taken too long with 4.2 on the HTC One in North America (mostly due to carrier influence), now they want to make people feel better by skipping it in favour of 4.3, but that’s gonna take some time… Rumours say by the end of this month but I doubt it.

Samsung’s no better IMO , every OEM wants to promote their new devices first. My SIII is still stuck on 4.1.2 , atleast HTC is giving 4.2 for One X+.

I’m still on 4.1.1 with 4+. I came from a note 2 to my DNA and I have to say the DNA is way better, I’m a Samsung fan too well was one

So should I stay with my DNA or upgrade to the HTC ONE?
