Verizon iPhone 5 Gets $100 Price Cut While Supplies Last
The Verizon iPhone 5 is $100 cheaper a day after Apple announced the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c would replace the one-year old smartphone.
While other carriers are still selling the iPhone 5 for $199 on a two-year contract, Verizon is stepping up with what will likely be the last iPhone 5 deal the carrier offers.
Starting today Verizon customers can buy the iPhone 5 for $99 with 16GB of storage, but that’s not all, Verizon also cut $100 off the 32GB and 64GB iPhone 5 models.
If you want to keep unlimited data and upgrade to a new iPhone, you can also buy the Verizon iPhone 5 for $100 less off contract with prices from $549 to $749.
While less interesting, Verizon also chopped $50 off the price of the iPhone 4s. The iPhone 4s Verizon is selling comes with 16GB of memory, double what the free iPhone 4s will offer when it arrives on Verizon and other carriers later this month.
The iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c release date is set for September 20th, when the 5c will replace the iPhone 5 completely. Until this happens, and until carriers sell out the current stock, this final iPhone 5 deal should be available, but quantities are likely limited.
The Verizon iPhone 5 clearance is available online, but it is not clear if the discount is already in stores or at third-party retailers yet.
AT&T and Sprint still offer the iPhone 5 for $199 on a two-year contract, but we anticipate a similar iPhone 5 deal will arrive on these carriers as they look to move stock ahead of the official iPhone 5s release later this month.
Sometimes Apple Stores will price match discount offers, but the iPhone 5 is wiped from the Apple website so it is not clear if Apple Store locations will honor the iPhone 5 deal or how they plan to handle selling the rest of the iPhone 5 units in stock.
The new pricing mirrors that of the iPhone 5c, which is essentially a new plastic version of the iPhone 5. This deal offers up to 64GB of storage, which is not an option on the iPhone 5c. We’ve covered why you should skip the iPhone 5c for the iPhone 5s, and there are similar reasons why buying an iPhone 5 makes more sense than buying an iPhone 5c.
