Apple Store Down Ahead of iPhone 5c Preorders

Published

on

Apple’s online store is currently down ahead of the midnight pre-order kickoff time for the mid-range iPhone 5c, a device that will replace Apple’s iPhone 5 in the lineup. A post-it note on the site is alerting customers that the store is currently down, and the note scrolls through a variety of different languages at the moment.

Earlier this week, the Cupertino, California maker of the iOS operating system had unveiled two new phone models, an iPhone 5c at the mid-range with a plastic shell and a flagship iPhone 5s that will retain the design of iPhone 5 while adding a dual LED flash, new gold color option, and a fingerprint scanner.

At the event, Apple announced that preorders for the iPhone 5c would begin just after midnight, but the iPhone 5s was mysteriously left off the announcement. Thus far, Apple has been quiet about whether or not the iPhone 5s would appear on the store for preorders alongside the iPhone 5s.

Both devices will be available in the U.S. starting September 20th in stores for purchase and that date will likely be the date that preorders will ship by.

The new devices will ship with the new iOS 7 operating system.

Online stores for Sprint, T-Mobile US, and Verizon Wireless seem to be all up and working at this time. AT&T Mobility’s site is down and there is a countdown clock for the iPhone 5c preorder. This means that unfortunately, you cannot access AT&T’s site for other phones until the countdown ends.
