AT&T Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update Spotted

It appears that the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for AT&T may have been spotted lurking inside of a benchmark ahead of its eventual release for the aging flagship.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a number of potential pieces of information emerge regarding the Samsung Galaxy S3 and its missing Android 4.2 and Android 4.3 updates. While Samsung hasn’t come right out and confirmed anything, rumors suggest that the Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 update will be skipped in favor of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, a newer version of the software.

Samsung still hasn’t said whether or not this is the case but it did say that the Galaxy S3 will get an update in October that brings support for the company’s new Galaxy Gear. Android 4.3 Jelly Bean possess support for Bluetooth Low Energy, so we expect that mystery update to be the long awaited Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S3.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update is rumored for October.

American carriers are typically far behind when it comes to rolling out software which is why we were a little surprised to see a possible sighting of an AT&T Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update today. A user on reddit noticed the software inside of a GFXBenchmark for the Samsung Galaxy SGH-I747, otherwise known as the Galaxy S3 for AT&T.

The build number listed in the benchmark is JSS15J and it appears that the build is from September. So, it’s possible that we’re looking at a test build for AT&T’s Galaxy S3 and it’s also possible that we’re looking at something else entirely. Benchmarks can be faked and aren’t always accurate but they have also proven to be deadly accurate in the past.

Given that Samsung promised Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in October, and given that the Galaxy S3 in the U.S. hasn’t received anything major since the Premium Suite updates, it could be that carriers are hard at work preparing the Android 4.3 update for arrival.

At this point, take it with a grain of salt, but if this truly is a test build in the wild, it’s possible that we could see the AT&T Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update roll out sooner rather than later.
