What a Motorola Nexus 5 Could Look Like

Published

on

Nexus 5 rumors have suggested that we could potentially see a Motorola Nexus 5 emerge from the shadows during the fourth quarter and while we haven’t seen any concrete features arrive just yet, a new concept shows what a Motorola made Nexus 5 could look like should one arrive from Google sometime this year.

For weeks now, Nexus 5 rumors have been circulating ahead of a probable launch sometime later this year alongside Android 4.4 KitKat. And while a majority of those rumors have been focused on an LG Nexus 5, a device that has seemingly leaked to the surface several times, there are also rumors that suggest that Motorola could have a Nexus device of its own.

The well-sourced Taylor Wimberly, formerly of Android and Me, recently claimed that a Motorola Nexus, a device different from the Moto X, would be arriving in the fourth quarter. He did not elaborate but he was dead on with his information about the current Moto X so it’s information that should not be taken lightly. Another well-placed source, evleaks, also claimed that the Nexus 5 looked to be made by Motorola. So there is reason to believe that something else might be cooking on Google’s end.

While we still aren’t sure if the Motorola Nexus is real or not, that hasn’t stopped designers from putting their own spin on a possible Motorola-built Nexus smartphone.

A new Motorola Nexus concept from Victor Monteiro, by way of Concept-Phones, shows what a Motorola Nexus 5 could look like if one were to be released later on in the year. This is obviously his interpretation of a Motorola Nexus but there are several realistic elements here that make it very plausible.

For one, the front of the device is reminiscent of Motorola’s past smartphone designs which have taken very rectangular form factors. The corners look similar to Motorola’s Droid RAZR HD and the aluminum band that appears to surround the phone is taken right out of Motorola’s design playbook.

Unfortunately, we don’t get a look at the back of this Motorola Nexus 5 concept, but we would hope that it would be modeled after the Moto X’s polycarbonate plastic which has received great reviews for its build quality.

Keep in mind, the rumored LG Nexus 5 seems to be taking design hints from the Nexus 7. And while the Moto X isn’t a Nexus phone, it was a Google collaboration so it’s possible that we could see some elements pulled in should a Motorola Nexus arrive.

Google is expected to debut its new Nexus, or Nexi, sometime next month with late October pegged as a possible launch window. The device, or devices, will likely be joined by a new Nexus 10 tablet, rumored to be from Asus, and Android 4.4 KitKat, the new Android software that Google announced earlier this month.

There will NOT be any Motorola Nexus smarthones this year. Google won’t trust Motorola after the Moto X fiasco.

Taylor Wimberly is an idiot who got suckered into paying $600 for an off contract 4.7″ 720 Moto X when he could have gotten a $350 5″ 1080p LG Nexus 5 with Snapdragon 800 (with smaller case than last year’s Nexus 4).

He feels stupid, so he keeps touting Motorola, Motorola to make it seem he’s not foolish.

I Wonder if maybe the droid ultra and Max were just the last of those old Motorola designs they said they were trying to push out so they could become a strictly Google influenced company like the RAZR HD was

I say this plus qwerty. Snapdragon 800 or Tegra 4 + 3GB RAM. Motorola Droid Nexus 5
    Motorola Droid 5
    Motorola Nexus 5 Droid

Whatever, I desperately want and need that. I can’t email with those on-screen keyboards. It just is not comfortable enough for me.
