GTA 5 Phones Mock iPhone, Android & Windows Phone Users
GTA 5 takes jabs at the world we live in throughout the game, and when it comes to the phones used by characters in the game, there is no respite as iPhone, Android and Windows Phone users are at the brunt of the joke.
GTA 5 lets gamers play as three main characters, Michael, the rich ex con, Franklin, the gang member who wants more and Trevor, a certifiably insane meth and weapons distributor.
Each character has a unique personality, form clothes, cursing and family drama all the way down to the phone they carry to stay in touch with the rest of the GTA 5 universe.
While the phones in video games are often decoration only, users can call other characters, summon a blimp, call 911, take self portraits, email, trade stocks and much more on the phones. There’s even a Facebook phone, but without ruining any game plot, it isn’t going anywhere fast. In short, the phones in GTA 5 are a key tool to getting around in a life of crime and destruction.
GTA 5 – iPhone Owners Are Rich
In the game Michael is an ex-con with enough cash to retire early and drink by the pool, before finding himself tossed back into the game. Michael relies on an iFruit, which is the GTA 5 version of an iPhone.
Note the traditional iPhone dock and status bar, which Apple just changed in iOS 7, but are still familiar enough to see. Unlike the iPhone, the first time we took a selfie with the GTA iPhone the Xbox froze.
GTA 5 – Android Owners are Gangsters
When it comes to Android owners, Franklin looks like he is rocking a Samsung Galaxy S3 knockoff as he hustles to move up in the world of crime.
The feud between iPhone and Android is nothing new, nor is talk of class warfare surrounding the iPhone and Android user demographics.
GTA 5 – Windows Phone Owners are Crazy
The third character in GTA 5 is Trevor. Trevor is a crazy and unpredictable character who is constantly ending up in situations that are hard to explain.
It’s not clear what Rockstar has against Windows Phone users, but based on the way these stereotypes play out Windows Phone users are the crazy ones in Los Santos.
GTA 5 is the latest open world game from Rockstar which is available on the Xbox 360 and PS3. GTA 5 Online arrives on October 1st to take the game multiplayer.
In addition to the in game phones, there is a GTA 5 iPhone app that installs on your real iPhone, and will son come to Android. The iFruit app lets users play the stock market, customize cars and train an in game dog. There’s no word on w Windows Phone iFruit app.
Rockstar also offers a GTA 5 manual for smartphones which includes a Google Maps like map of Los Santos and more details about the game.
