iPhone 5S Release: New Carrier Emerges

Published

on

The iPhone 5S release in the United States has gained another release date as regional carrier C Spire Wireless has announced that it will start taking iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C orders starting on October 1st.

Earlier this month, Apple announced the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, devices that were released on September 20th and replaced the iPhone 5 in Apple’s lineup. The devices have arrived on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon and it’s looking like they will be heading to a couple of other carriers down the road as well.

While U.S. Cellular still hasn’t announced either device, the company’s comments have signaled a launch at some point down the road. And while U.S. Cellular hasn’t announced availability, another regional U.S. carrier has, with C Spire Wireless revealing an October 1st release date for both the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C.

C Spire Wireless carried last year’s iPhone 5 and it introduced that device just a few short days after it first arrived as well. The carrier isn’t as big as some of the other powerhouses but it does offer both 3G and 4G LTE connectivity to those that are looking for something different.

The carrier did not announce pricing for either device though it can be assumed that it will be falling in line with other carriers, offering the iPhone 5C starting at $99.99 on-contract and the iPhone 5S for $199.99 on-contract. What’s not clear however is if the carrier will have any gold iPhone 5S devices in stock.

The gold iPhone 5S sold out almost immediately when the device went on sale last week and stock shortages have pushed its availability back to October at the latest. Verizon Wireless, one of the iPhone 5S’ four main carriers, says that it will be shipping out the gold iPhone 5S by November.

C Spire Wireless figures to be only one of several regional carriers that offer the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 all landed on smaller carriers across the United States, giving consumers the chance to pick and choose an appropriate provider.

Is there any news on why US Cellular has been so silent about all of this? As a customer, its pretty disconcerting that we still haven’t heard anything other than “…by the end of the year!”

I wentt to US Cellular and the manager told me they would have the lphone in September. We know that wasn’t right. I have been a customer for many years but i’m sick of waiting. I’ve wanted an iphone a long time, it looks like i will have to get it in from another carrier.
