Nexus 5 Photo Offers Best Look Yet

Published

on

A new Nexus 5 photo, which shows off a device that looks exactly like the device that has appeared in photos time and time again, delivers the best look yet at the overall design of what is likely going to be the new Nexus from LG.

A device that is currently being dubbed Nexus 5 has shown up in a number of different leaks in the past few weeks. The first leak was from Google itself as an unknown Nexus smartphone was caught on camera inside an Android 4.4 KitKat video. The device showed up again in two FCC filings, one for an LG D820, a device that is now thought to be the LG Nexus 5.

More recently, we saw the Nexus 5 appear in the wild, both in photos and on video, imagery that clearly showed off the same design that emerged in both the FCC filings and inside the video. Those, along with several user-made renders have given prospective Nexus 5 buyers a look at what may be coming in just a few weeks.

However, none of them offered the type of up close look at a user on MacRumors forums offered up to the world. The photo, preserved by Droid-Life and delivered by a forum user named weespeed, shows what appears to be the back of the Nexus 5 with the smooth matte back that we’ve come to know from the other leaks. The user claims that the back feels a lot like the back of the Nexus 7, Google’s current tablet.

He also claims that it’s smaller than the LG G2 and that the screen didn’t wow like the Galaxy Note 3’s display but that it did possess small bezels. From the looks of things, this has all the makings of a new Nexus as it matches all previous leaks, massive camera sensor and all.

Those who are interested in the Nexus 5 likely only have a few more weeks of waiting as Google is rumored to be delivering a new Nexus in October. Recently, the Nexus 4 went out of stock and rumors have since suggested that the company could be gearing up for an October 14th launch alongside Android 4.4 KitKat and a new Nexus 10 from Asus.

Nexus 5 rumors suggest a device that possesses a near 5-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 8MP camera, Android 4.4 KitKat and a number of different sensors.

The device is expected to command a mid-range price tag when it lands on the Google Play Store later this year.

I can’t see this Nexus 5 really having an 8MP cam and only a 16GB or 32GB option. If it does than someone dropped the ball.

LG really don’t know how to make a good looking handset. Samsung got it right with the Galaxy Nexus. Nexus 4 styling = turd. Nexus 5 styling = looking to be turd. But hey I’m sure they did some research, there must be a big market for the cheap plastic, grey brick look.

The nexus 4 is a great looking phone, I’m sure others share your opinion but perhaps you can’t see past the black plastic and actually appreciate the phones shape the n4 feels great in the hand also the back is not plastic its glass on the n4. I’m sure the n5 will feel just as good.

Agreed. Unless it has OIS and good lenses and sensor anyway.

The rumors of an 8MP camera might be true. Google has chosen to make cuts here and there in order to lessen the price of the mobile device, but these cuts are definitely not deal breakers in my opinion.
