Nokia Amber Update Finally Arrives on AT&T Lumia 920 & 800

The Nokia Amber Update, the software upgrade that allows users to listen to FM radio and more, is rolling out to the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820.

Starting today, users will get a prompt from their Nokia Lumia device to upgrade if it is eligible. Nokia originally announced that the Amber Update would begin rolling out to devices on AT&T in early August, however the update never materialized, turning mild interest in to an all-out frenzy on AT&T’s forums. It isn’t all that hard to understand why, while the Lumia 520 is the most popular Windows Phone worldwide, the Lumia 920 is the most popular flagship Windows Phone device in the United States.

Users who have a Nokia Lumia smartphone should download the update immediately. In addition to adding the necessary software to use the device’s FM radio tuner, the update also adds a new Storage check utility and the ability to flip a Lumia device over to silence its ringer on demand.

This update also includes the new Glance functionality that allows users to see pending notifications even when their device is in sleep. According to most reports, users shouldn’t expect the feature to negatively impact their device’s battery life in a huge way. Nokia’s part of the update also adds support for the new Nokia Pro Camera application that originally debuted on the Lumia 1020. Users can control exposure times and white balance without having to download a third-party application.

Since the Nokia Amber Update also includes the features of Windows Phone 8 GDR2, users can expect improvements to Xbox Music and the ability to set third-party applications as their device’s default camera app. This camera app will show up when a user presses their device’s physical camera button.

Microsoft will begin deploying the update to phones today, however it is important to remember that the company prefers to gradually make updates available over a given time. That means that even if a device isn’t showing that it is eligible for the update now, it could become eligible at any point. Users can manually check for updates to Windows Phone by heading to the Settings application and tapping on Phone Update.

The Nokia Lumia 520 and Lumia 925 on AT&T already come equipped with the Amber Update.

Did you notice ATT did not give datasense app because there money hungry shitbags. that would allow you to set limits on your data so you dont go over and let you use 4G 30% longer almost like having unlimited data

I have AT&T Lumia 920 and just updated — I do not see FM radio feature.
I agree with Paul — why AT&T doesn’t put DataSense? It’s very helpful feature to set limit on data. And I have 4GB sharing with my wife’s Galaxy Note 2 (that has data usage limit setting!), AT&T gives warning at 3GB so many times that actually helpful, but at the same time, make me constantly worry about it — it’s a pain.

Oops. found that FM Radio. It’s in Music & Video app. :-)

But anyhow, missing data sense is not good.
