Nexus 5 Passes Final Roadblock for Release

Published

on

The Nexus 5 release date passed one of its final roadblocks today as the LG D821, a device known to be a version of the Nexus 5, was spotted jetting through the Bluetooth Special Interest Group on its way to shelves.

Nexus 5 rumors have been swirling for several months now and it appears that things are about to come to a head as the device is heavily rumored to be arriving sometime within the next few weeks alongside Android 4.4 KitKat, a new Asus Nexus 10 and perhaps, some other Nexus devices including a Nexus light switch. October 15th is now heavily rumored to be the launch date for those three products at least with release date rumors suggesting a possible release later in the month.

Google still hasn’t set out invites for the Nexus 5 launch event but it’s clear that the launch, and release, are getting closer as the device passed through one of the final roadblocks to release today, if not the final roadblock. The LG D821, which we know is a model number for the Nexus 5 thanks to a leaked service manual, passed through the Bluetooth SIG, one of the final certifications a device needs before it hits shelves. The filing doesn’t reveal anything we didn’t already know, LTE is going to be on board, but it’s a sign that consumers are extremely close to seeing a Nexus 4 successor.

The Nexus 5 has already been outed by numerous rumors and leaks giving consumers a close look at what will be Google’s brand new Nexus smartphone. The device is expected to debut with a 5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 8MP camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), Android 4.3 KitKat, and a new design that is reminiscent of the Nexus 7. It’s also thought to have LTE support for AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint.

Android 4.4 KitKat will apparently be coming in October.

Google is likely going to debut the Android 4.4 KitKat update alongside the Nexus 5, an update that appears to be incremental but one that should bring some nice additions to the table nonetheless. Those products should launch alongside a new Nexus 10 that should come with a handful of upgrades to take on the iPad 5, Apple’s new iPad that is expected to launch on October 22nd.

4.3 is key lime pie. 4.4 is kit Kat. Just thought I’d point that out. The article even typo’d…

This LG-D821 is the “International” Nexus 5.

The LG-D820 — “North America” Nexus 5 — passed through the FCC already but for some reason was split into TWO variants for Bluetooth certification, the LG-D820_S and the LG-D820_C. Google’s idea of a joke on Apple? The Nexus 5_S and 5_C?

So, now all Nexus 5 variants have Bluetooth certification.

Not as good as it should have been. A 3gb ram, 13mp camera would have put it at the top , destroying the s4 and HTC one and lg g2, but Google cba with those kind of details. . if it has a 3gb ram then it will pretty much be in the same league as the Samsung note 3 , which is the pretty much right at the top of smartphone kings.

Thats just absurd. Note 3 wasn’t able to garner the kind of reviews it expected. And a phone needn’t be the best just by having top of the line specs. You have to look at the overall value as well. Nexus 5 specs are top of the line – a snap 800, 2GB Ram and an Adreno 330 is graphically fantastic.. It is; as per the benchmarks the best in the graphical business at the moment! (well u cant always believe the benchmarks with Sammy and probably others too hijacking the benchmarks).
And yeah, look at the cost too.. Note 3 is priced “IPhone” like. While u can expect the higher storage Nexus 5 for close to $400.

The note 3 is a joke. Anything with touchwiz not only is junk…but needs more ram to run that ridiculously horrible rom.

Have loved by nexus 4 and note 2. Will probably love my note 3 and nexus 5. These are both great phone’s but not in the same category. Both will attract different customers for there different features. Not the biggest fan of touchwiz but it wasn’t a deal killer.

I haven’t held a Samsung phone that doesn’t feel just CHEAP. And it’s well known and documented that Samsung inflates their benchmarks. My brother and friend both have sg4s…..lag lag lag. My nexus 4 has never lagged. And everyone saying that the nexus 4 was missing lte….doesn’t deserve a nexus device. It’s in there…turn it on! That’s what nexus devices are for….pure control.

It just gets old… all the talk of Samsung this….iPhone that. Have these people ever used a nexus device? ESPECIALLY the nexus 4? they’d never go back.

Vanilla Android sure as hell doesn’t need 3GB of ram and especially kitkat 4.4. It’s so light it is supposed to run on old devices with less than 1GB of ram. The Nexus 5 will SMOKE the phablet GN3. It’s not even worth comparing the devices are in two different markets.

Don’t even bother trying to explain it. Samsungites will always think their devices are the #!#+&. It’s hilarious. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched my friends and their Samsung’s lag behind as I’m flying through apps and web pages. That’s exactly what vanilla android is for. Speed and lightweight on the ram.

Exactly. Google has quietly gone about it’s business unnoticed, and has already given us the best of both worlds – Nexus 4. Combines the best of Apple & Samsung. If only the fanboys could open their eyes – they would see that.
