New iPhoto and GarageBand Icons Hint at Impending Redesign

Published

on

New icons for iPhoto and GarageBand for iOS have been spotted in the iCloud Storage Management section of the Settings app, which hints to the likeliness that these two apps will see updates soon in order to blend in well with iOS 7. Plus, these icons aren’t hidden at all; you can easily view them for yourself by navigating to Settings > iCloud > Storage and Backup > Manage Storage.

Surprisingly, these apps remain unchanged, even after the iOS 7 redesign. One would think that Apple would also redesign its own apps to blend in with iOS 7, but some of them still need updating. However, it seems we finally get that, possibly at Apple’s October 22 event, where the company is expected to announce new iPads, as well as a few other things.

Redesigns for iPhoto and GarageBand would be perfect additions to the iPad announcement, as both of these apps actually work best on the iPad anyway, so it’s possible that Apple could take the time to announce redesigns of these two apps and demo them on stage using the new iPads.

Of course, we can’t bet on anything, and we’re not exactly sure why we’re seeing different icons for iPhoto and GarageBand in iCloud settings. It’s possible that Apple could have uploaded the new icons in preparation for the redesign that could come on October 22, but it’s a little odd that they’re not hidden; practically anyone can view them if they know where to look.

Nonetheless, we’re looking forward to updates to these two apps. GarageBand especially hasn’t seen many updates recently, so it’s possible we could see a huge overhaul with the app, and not just a basic redesign. We could see more instruments, as well as different looping methods. As for iPhoto, we could see some new features as well. Apple has done a decent job at keeping iPhoto updated over the months, but we’ll have to wait and see what the company has up its sleeves.

The main headliner will still be iPads at the company’s event, so it’s possible Apple may just gloss over redesigns for the apps, but hopefully they’ll be bringing some new features as well.
