Nexus 5 Pre-Orders Are Too Good to Be True

Published

on

The Nexus 5 release date appears incredibly close and while there is no news on official Nexus 5 pre-orders we are already seeing eBay sellers promising a Nexus 5 pre-order with prices $250 above the retail price from Google.

Google already slipped and shared the Nexus 5 on Google Play last week revealing 16GB and 32GB models with a starting price of $349, which puts the Nexus 5 32GB at $399.

Sellers on eBay are already asking for a high premium from users who want to place an unofficial Nexus 5 pre-order, but buyers should note that nothing is guaranteed.

Unlike some pre-orders that go on sale on eBay in the days leading up to a release, there is no official Nexus 5 pre-order at this time and it isn’t worth paying almost double for a Nexus 5 that won’t arrive ahead of any official orders.

If there are Nexus 5 supply issues and the device is hard to find these prices may be justifiable, but in this Nexus 5 pre-order the seller reserves the right to cancel the transaction, which could come into play if he or she cannot buy one, or if eBay prices skyrocket later.

Multiple Nexus 5 pre-order listings are available on eBay with bidding a low as $5.52 for one listing and as high as $700 for a 16GB Nexus 5.

Nexus 5 pre-orders are up on eBay, for a high premium and without any promises.

Many of these listings offer an estimated shipping date of October 25th to October 28th, with one day shipping options available. This is pure speculation as there is no official Nexus 5 release date on the books. It is a good guess, considering multiple leaks and speculation, but buyers should not expect magic from these overpriced listings.

The Google Nexus 5 is a new flagship Android device that we expect to deliver a major upgrade from the Nexus 4. Leaks suggest the Nexus 5 will feature a 5-inch 1080P HD display and use a Snapdragon 800 processor which could bring always listening access to Google Now, faster charging and certainly better performance.

The video above shows the Nexus 5 design that Google leaked on the Play Store last week and sums up the many Nexus 5 rumors. The overall look is similar to the Nexus 7, featuring a matte black back. Leaks indicate the Nexus 5 will come with an 8MP camera sensor that includes optical image stabilization.

It’s not clear if Google will offer an official Nexus 5 pre-order or if the company will simply announce the phones and start taking orders that ship within a few days.

Why would anyone buy a Nexus from a ebay seller when they can get a iPhone 5s for the same price?

Haha! IPhone 5s. Get the f**k outta here. Let me know when that small, feminine screen size gets upgraded to industry standard.

I would like a real phone with a real screen. Not the same crap Apple has been pushing for 6 years.

IPhone 5s? It’s too small and it is limited when it comes to customization. Multi tasking pales in comparison to an android phone. Productivity tasks also fall short in am iPhone vs an Android phone. It’s overpriced too for it is, which is a basic smartphone. So yeah, the iPhone does kinda suck.

You cant even get an iPhone 5s for $700. Not even an iPhone 5c. Well, here in Australia that is.
