HTC One owners in the United States wondering about an HTC One Sense 5.5 update needn’t wonder any longer as HTC President Jason Mackenzie has confirmed the Sense 5.5 update for arrival and says that the company is currently “building plans and working on scheduling” and that he will update owners on dates sometime in the next month.

While the Sense 5.5 update and all of its features were originally announced alongside the new HTC One Max, the update will be coming to HTC’s older devices including the HTC One. Rumors suggest that it will also be heading to the HTC Butterfly, HTC Butterfly S, and the Droid DNA, Verizon’s version of the HTC Butterfly.

HTC One owners in the United States got the confirmation they were waiting for just a short time ago as HTC President Jason Mackenzie confirmed the Sense 5.5 update for arrival, confirming a few other details in the process. According to Mackenzie, HTC is currently in the process of building out its plans for the HTC One Sense 5.5 update in the United States and that it is preparing roll out schedules for the updates that will likely come to AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon and more.

He says that the company plans to outline dates in the next month, a sign that a roll out may not be close. Previous information suggested that the HTC One Sense 5.5 update would land in the U.S. sometime in 2013 and from the looks of things, HTC has every intention of making that happen. A specific roll out start date though remains out of reach and likely won’t arrive for a few weeks.

HTC Sense 5.5 is going to be a fairly substantial upgrade for HTC One owners as it brings changes to HTC BlinkFeed which include integration with Google+ and Instagram, and RSS feeds. Sense 5.5 also brings a new offline reading mode and a multi-edition mode that allows you to read news in other languages. The update also brings some enhancements to HTC Zoe including its ability to automatically put together a short slideshow with background music.

An HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update has been rumored though it’s not clear if Sense 5.5 will come with KitKat in the United States or simply arrive in a software update by itself.
