iOS 7.0.4 Update: Calls for Swift Release Grow

Published

on

Calls for an iOS 7.0.4 update or iOS 7.1 update from Apple continue to get louder as iPhone and iPad owners continue to deal with a myriad of issues that have plagued Apple’s brand new iOS 7 update since it arrived back in September.

In September, Apple released the iOS 7 update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, a release that came several months after the company debuted the software at WWDC and released an iOS 7 beta to help work out the major kinks inside of the software. When iOS 7 arrived, it delivered the new look and the new features that Apple promised but it also brought several bugs along with it.

After the release of iOS 7, Apple worked diligently to fix a lock screen issue tucked away inside iOS 7. Several days later, the company released iOS 7.0.2 aimed at tackling the issue. However, iOS 7.0.2 brought some problems of its own as many iPhone owners began to experience an iMessage issue that prevent them from sending or receiving iMessages. School districts that use the iPad as an educational tool also began to complain about a serious issue wherein the software disabled features the teachers used to monitor student activity. Apple promised fixes for both issues in October and fortunately, it delivered.

iOS 7.0.3 rolled out in late October and delivered a wealth of bug fixes to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch owners. Included were fixes for the iMessage issue, filtering issue, and several other fixes that were meant to tackle many of the problems plaguing Apple’s new software. However, as Gotta Be Mobile has learned, there are tons of iOS 7 users out there that are still experiencing issues.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve received tons of emails and messages from iOS 7 users who have been dealing with issues. Some of them, minor nuisances, others, major issues that have users frustrated, looking at using alternative devices and vowing never to buy another Apple product. And as the bug list continues to grow in size, so do the cries for iOS 7.0.4 or iOS 7.1.

This past weekend we heard from several iDevice owners who claim to be having issues with iOS 7. We’ve now heard from several iPhone owners that claim that their phone is crashing left and right after the upgrade. We’ve heard from iPad owners dealing with extreme lag. And we’ve also heard from folks who are just now running into Wi-Fi issues with iOS 7.

We’ve also told you about a Twitter sharing bug on the iPad Air and iPhone 5s that is affecting those who try to send images through Twitter, a bug that is apparently something that will need to be fixed with a future iOS update. These issues are just a few among a growing list that includes iMessage issues, crashes, battery drain, issues with the multitasking system and more.

Better ioS 7 battery life

Calls for iOS 7.0.4 and iOS 7.1 continue to get louder as iPhone and iPad owners grow louder with their complaints. Problem is, we still don’t know when Apple will release a brand new bug fix update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. In all likelihood, Apple’s engineers are hard at work developing the next software update for iOS 7 users and it wouldn’t be surprising to see it roll out in and around the iPad mini with Retina Display release date later in the month.

After all, we saw updates arrive on the iPhone 5s release date and shortly before the iPad Air arrived. Perhaps, we’ll see another update to shore up some more issues ahead of the iPad mini 2 release date.

While we have to attribute many of the angry comments made by iOS 7 users to frustration, it wouldn’t hurt to see another iOS 7 update roll out in the near future to address many of the issues that are still prevalent in Apple’s software.

All the problems would have been eliminated with proper testing, which obviously is NOT being done by Apple development. The lack of proper testing is becoming epidemic.

What I don’t understand here is that we are not dealing with Google. We are not dealing with Microsoft. In fact we are dealing with a company that not only controls their entire supply chain, but also has total granular control over their entire product line.
Their software doesn’t have to work “ok” on a myriad of different hardware configurations. It needs to run “well” on a small selection of in-house hardware.
If Apple can’t get this right, then to be honest theres not much hope for them in the future – despite their wealth.
I just hope they resolve these issues soon, and also with future iterations of the iPhone perhaps they may focus on the “phone” aspect – getting that to work in a fashion to rival Blackberry or Nokia.
It’s very annoying, but at the end of the day we as consumers dictate how well they do. If they continue to produce sub-standard products (albeit products that look lovely), then I personally will be voting with my feet…

Is google or Microsoft doing any better? I don’t think so. You don’t realize hat goes into it and how unknown bugs appear when the software is publicly released that didn’t show up when they were doing internal testing. Maybe you should try working for them and then tell me how you like it.

My major complaint is my phone only rings on occasion… about 80% of my calls go directly to voicemail… Then there is the disappearing email… it comes in but when I go to read it…whoosh…. it’s gone. I like OS7 but it it appears to have rendered my phone useless

I must agree with those who dislike ios7. Regardless of its current problems, the UI seems to have been designed by an adolescent girl. Where is the classy look that used to be Apple’s trademark?
How about Apple allowing us to revert to ios6, then see how many users jump ship. This would surely answer the question of 7’s popularity.

I don’t see anyone else complaining about the issues I have with my iPad 3 and IOS 7.0.3. Every time I try to download a video from iTunes, the system crashes, screen freezes the first time. When I can get the iPad working again, the download then works with no problems. It’s done this exactly the same 5 or 6 times. I can use my iPod with IOS 6 to download and have no problems.

My iphone 5s battery goes down to 40-50% in standby during night. Please apple fix this battery drain issue in ios 7.0.3

Besides the fact that the UI looks horrible. The battery drainage should be the main focus. All the new features are unecessary features. In the end people just want their device to work n last longer. Screw the designs I just want my apps to open faster and my keyboard not to lag

That is absolutely correct. After updating my ipadmini to ios7, it drains battery so fast. Even installing any app from app store takes a long time.

I’ve found it impossible to upload an under 15 minute video to YouTube via the Photos app since iOS7 was introduced.

These reboots on my iPad 3 are ridiculous averaging 1-3 per day. My Diagnostics log is really getting full. I have a Nexus 4 and 7 and I hear a Nexus 10-2 is coming out soon so I think I’ll just pass my iPad down to the kids and forget them. I appreciated the ability to have a contact list and calendar in the cloud on all devices (3 Macs included) but Google does this for me on my Nexus devices too.

Power is # 1 problem. The devices drain fast. Not all devices its is about 50-50. I suspect that a revision to the chipset is the reason some devices work just fine. This is a software & hardware issue. I suggest if your device locks up like my iphone 5 did that you go to the apple store and demand a replacement (if you have iCare). When asking for a replacement phone tell them you want a phone with iOS 6 – Yes, they stock them. Good luck.

Have tried all the tips and suggestions for getting the wifi back up and running but still no luck, it has been greyed out since the week after I changed to iOS 7. Extremely frustrating.

I just took my Iphone to a repair shop that is telling me that the upgrade is making the phone hardware have issues that caused it to heat up and mess up connections. In my case it is causing the following issues with my phone: no one is be able to hear me speak when making or receiving phone calls and the home button not working. They are telling me it is frying my mother board and that soon it will completely dead. That kind of makes having it useless – is apple giving us our money back? I have only had my phone less then two months. It is my first Apple product and my last….. going to go back to my Droid and stop giving apple my money.

IOS7.03 disabled charging in my car, apple approved.apple says hey a new car. Apps refresh to home screen when switching, apple claims they never heard of this even though there is a 20 page thread on it at apple support. Apple has lost it..,
