HTC M8 Leak Suggests HTC One 2 Will Come With Fingerprint Tech Chuong Nguyen11/08/2013 Newly leaked images of a device known as the HTC M8 suggest that the HTC One successor will come with a fingerprint reader to combat the biometric sensor on the Apple iPhone 5s. In addition to the the speculated fingerprint sensor, the phone is said to come with high end specs that will challenge flagship phones from rival manufacturers. Leaked photos posted on Phandroid show that the HTC M8 will sport a similar zero-gap aluminum construction that HTC introduced with the HTC One. On the rear of the phone, there are now three holes. You have the camera and single LED flash holes that are present on the current generation HTC One. However, a third opening just above the camera and towards the top edge of the device may indicate that the opening may be for a fingerprint sensor.Advertisement Still, without confirmation, it may still be too early to tell what the third opening on the rear casing would be used for. The fingerprint sensor wouldn’t be the first for HTC, which had employed a similar sensor, albeit in a more rectangular and square shape, on the HTC One Max. That device is more of a phablet with a larger display.Advertisement The HTC M8 is said to come with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor–the same CPU that’s found on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the Google Nexus 5, and the LG G2–3 GB of RAM for fluid multitasking, and a larger 5- to 5.2-inch display. For reference, the HTC One today comes with a 4.7-inch 1080p display while the Galaxy S4 from Samsung comes with a 5-inch display. And due the slimmer bezels on the Galaxy S4, the overall footprint of both devices are roughly equal despite the One having a smaller display.Advertisement Previously, it was also rumored that the HTC M8 would debut a new version of the HTC Sense user interface. Given that HTC had launched the original HTC One in the spring, the HTC One 2, or HTC M8, may not arrive until spring 2014.
