iPad mini with Retina Launching Tomorrow November 12?

There is word/rumor/speculation/ that Apple may be quietly launching the iPad Mini with Retina Display, tomorrow Tuesday, November 12. MacRumors was first with the story posting a screenshot from user PuntoMac. There are a lot of reasons to have your skeptic hat on here. We’re only reporting this here as a heads up in case this somewhat sketchy report turns out to be true. Here’s what we know and don’t know.

A posting on Apple’s Global Service Exchange site for service providers lists info that the iPad mini with Retina Display will go on sale on November 12 in the United States, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, and Singapore. In China it would only be available in WiFi models. Most assume Apple wouldn’t make a quiet release of the new Retina equipped iPad mini, but there are thoughts that because of constrained supply attributed to issues with those desirous Retina displays there may be a pinch of rationality there.

UPDATE: And the Apple Store is down as of 11:15pm CST. Take that as you may.

release

Typically when Apple does a “quiet” roll out, a press release is issued about 5:30am. Adding to the sketchiness here is that some of the countries mentioned have already seen the clock tick over into November 12.

The iPad mini with Retina Display was announced as “coming later in November” when Apple made its fall announcement on October 22, 2013.
