Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Hits U.S.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update has reached the United States, just a day after the update started rolling out internationally. The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, which was rumored to be hitting AT&T and Sprint today, has landed for the Sprint Galaxy Note 2, making it the first Galaxy Note 2 in the United States to receive Galaxy Gear support and Samsung KNOX.
Several weeks ago, a roll out schedule emerged, claiming that the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update roll out would hit the United States starting November 20th. The schedule claimed that the AT&T Galaxy Note 2 and Sprint Galaxy Note 2 would get the update that day and sure enough, the Sprint Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean roll out has begun.
Sprint announced the roll out on its Galaxy Note 2 support page, detailing some of the features that Galaxy Note 2 owners can expect when the software hits their device. Sprint notes HD voice compatibility, Galaxy Gear support and Samsung KNOX as features coming along with the Android 4.3 update but we imagine that there will be other enhancements and fixes on board as well.
The carrier, as expected, is offering the update through an Over-the-Air update and it comes right out of the gate saying that it the roll out process could take some time. A customer service representative claimed that the Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update, which still hasn’t rolled out, would take several weeks to roll out and it could apply to this update as well.
This kicks off the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 roll out in the United States and if the schedule is correct, we should see the AT&T Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update roll out today. The T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update is thought to be rolling out on December 2nd while the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 may not get its update until November 29th, or, Black Friday.
Those dates are certainly not set in stone but the fact that Sprint pushed its update out today is a good sign. Owners will want to keep the issues surrounding the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates in mind before installing the update when it arrives. While there is no guarantee that it will have bugs on board, wise Sprint Galaxy Note 2 owners will want to hold off until the coast is determined to be clear.
