With Black Friday looming and some retail outlets already offering pre-Black Friday deals this weekend, Apple is now selling the new iPad mini with Retina Display to walk in customers in stores, according to some reports. Supplies still remain tight, especially for LTE models. But according to several reports some stores have received shipments specifically designated for walk in customers. This doesn’t appear to be the case at all Apple Stores at the moment.

ipadminiwithretinaApple also updated its Apple Store page for the iPad mini with Retina Display that looks to encourage walk in customers in addition to continuing to push the Personal Pickup option. The iPad mini with Retina Display rollout has been plagued by supply shortages prompting Apple to warn that supplies would be tight this holiday season.

It’s best to use one of several online tracking sites to see what stock may be available before heading out to the closest Apple Store. Personal Pickup is still a good way to make sure you get the iPad mini with Retina Display in the configuration you want in many locations, although you can find yourself waiting. You can of course order online for home delivery and those orders still show a 5-10 day shipping window.
