Verizon HTC One Android 4.3 Update Rolling Out Next Week

Published

on

HTC announced today that the long awaited Verizon HTC One Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, an update that will roll out about a month before the device receives Android 4.4 KitKat, has received approval from Verizon and it expects the software to start rolling out to users during the early part of next week.

All the way back in August, HTC said that it would deliver the HTC One Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to owners in the U.S. by the end of September. The end of September arrived and the company was forced to backtrack and suggest that the updates would be rolling out within the month of October. Three of those updates eventually did roll out in October.

Since October, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile HTC One users have been using Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Verizon HTC One owners, on the other hand, have been waiting for their upgrade, an update that was promised for December and promised before the arrival of Android 4.4 KitKat. All week, HTC has been saying that the update was on track for this week. As it turns out, it’s not going to roll out this week.

Instead, HTC’s Director of Product Management Mo Versi has confirmed that the Verizon HTC One Android 4.3 update has received approval from Verizon and that the company expects it to roll out in the early goings of next week. Versi does not call out a specific date by name but we would be shocked if it didn’t roll out on Monday or Tuesday.

Verizon will likely post the change log just ahead of the Verizon HTC One Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update’s roll out and the roll out should span over the course of a couple of days as Verizon works to upgrade all of its HTC One owners.

The update will deliver upgrades to Sense 5 along with the features of Android 4.3. Those waiting for Sense 5.5 will unfortunately have to wait for Android 4.4 KitKat, an update that has been promised by the end of January with no specific date known. HTC claims that the Android 4.3 update’s delay has not impacted the release date of the Verizon HTC One Android 4.4 update.

Wow, that’s almost as good as the magic beans I bought the other day. Plant them and they grow into money trees.

Ugh, I was hoping for Sense 5.5 now so I can just disable Blinkfeed already. I don’t use it and would like to have that homescreen available.
