Most of the focus right now is on the devices that will be getting Android 4.4 KitKat, phones like the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, and Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Here, we wanted to take a look at some of the big name devices that won’t be getting Android 4.4 KitKat updates in the future and will instead, get left behind.

Back in September, Google announced that it would be rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat, an update that would replace Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as the most current version of Android. The company did not detail any features nor did it offer an Android 4.4 KitKat update release date for any of its Nexus devices, only saying that it would be coming in the future.

At the end of October, Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat again, only this time, it not only revealed its features, it detailed its release. Google confirmed the update for a number of devices including the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. It also decided against releasing one Android 4.4 KitKat update because of its rule about 18 months of support.

And while much of the focus has been on the Android 4.4 KitKat that have rolled out and the devices that will be getting the update in the future, there are a bunch of devices that won’t be getting Android 4.4 KitKat down the line.

Companies are always proud to announce roll outs that will be taking place, but as we have learned, they often don’t mention the devices that won’t be getting the latest software upgrade. We’ve done our best to round up the 10 biggest devices that we know won’t be getting Android 4.4 KitKat at any point in the future.

There are some that are certainly on the fence, devices like the HTC EVO 4G LTE, Droid Incredible 4G LTE, and more, but at this point we either haven’t seen confirmation or we aren’t confident. The devices that appear on this list are devices that we are confident won’t be getting Android 4.4 KitKat at any point in the future.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.4 KitKat update will never roll out, at least not officially. Google announced that it would not be getting Android 4.4 KitKat due to it being older than 18 months. And while users have petitioned Google to release the official firmware, it's simply not going to happen. Instead, like all users and devices not getting Android 4.4 KitKat, Galaxy Nexus users will need to depend on the development community for Android 4.4 functionality. Because this is a Nexus device, there should be a number of ways to get Android 4.4 KitKat on board, right now.
