5 Best Samsung Galaxy S5 Concepts

Published

on

We still don’t know what the Samsung Galaxy S5 will look like, or what it will have on board exactly, but that doesn’t mean that we haven’t seen designers develop their own versions of the Samsung Galaxy S5.

For months now, Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors have been swirling, teasing prospective buyers with talk of a 5.2-inch high-resolution QHD display, 16MP camera sensor, 64-bit processor, Android 4.4 KitKat, a metal design, and a launch and release that could take place in the first half of the new year.

While nothing is set in stone, consumers should not expect to hear about the real Samsung Galaxy S5 until later on this year with February and March being likely candidates for launch.

Every year, Samsung offers up a new, redesigned Galaxy S smartphone. In the past, the redesign has consisted of a few tweaks and changes. Other times, we’ve seen a full blown redesign. Unlike Apple, Samsung routinely tries something new with its customers. Fortunately, we’re far enough along in the rumor cycle to know that the company might be planning some substantial changes in 2014.

Galaxy S5 rumors have suggested that the device could finally adopt a metal design. For years, Samsung has been derided for using plastic, which in places like the United States, is considered cheap and unfitting for a device of the Galaxy S’ caliber. However, Samsung keeps its designs under lock and key which means that the actual Galaxy S5 design may not emerge until just before the actual launch event.

That has left prospective buyers at the mercy of talented designers who have cobbled together their own visions of the Samsung Galaxy S5. Over the past few months, we’ve seen a growing number of Galaxy S5 concepts. Some of them have been realistic, staying true to the rumors. Others are from a distant future.

Over time, we’ve put together a list of Samsung Galaxy S5 concepts that we consider to be the best of the best, worthy of special attention. While the real Galaxy S5 design will likely be different than the designs seen here, there is certainly a chance that real Galaxy S5 could borrow some design cues from our favorite Galaxy S5 concepts.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Based on Patents

Samsung Galaxy S5 Based on Patents

This Samsung Galaxy S5 concept, from designer Ivo Maric, is derived from design patents that emerged a few short days ago. While the patents haven't been proven to be the real Galaxy S5 or Galaxy Note 4 for that matter, Maric took it upon himself to create a concept based on what he saw. The result is part Galaxy Note 3, part metal Galaxy S5.

The concept combines both metal, and faux leather plastic, two materials rumored to be on board the real Galaxy S5. The device also uses a 5.25-inch display, the same size that Galaxy S5 rumors have pointed to. The rest of the specifications aren't clear

Maric's concept is sleek, though, unlikely. We'd be shocked to see Samsung combine plastic with metal and instead, focus on one or the other, or both.
