Android 4.4 KitKat Issues Pile Up

If a collection of Android 4.4 KitKat bugs that a Nexus 4 users has found is any indication, Google still has a lot of work left to do on its brand new Android update, an update that is still only available on a handful of devices.

In November, Google released Android 4.4 KitKat for its Nexus devices including the Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and the Nexus 10. Almost immediately after it arrived, Nexus users began to complain about issues with the software. Many users started calling for a brand new Android 4.4.1 KitKat update with bug fixes.

Google rolled out such an update a few weeks later in the form of Android 4.4.1 KitKat, an update that worked to tackle issues and fix the Nexus 5 camera, which at the time was considered to be one of its biggest flaws. A short time later, Google pushed out Android 4.4.2 KitKat, an update loaded with security fixes, and an update that remains Google’s most current version of KitKat.

As we have pointed out, numerous times, Nexus owners are having problems with Android 4.4 KitKat. And while the complaints about Android 4.4.2 KitKat on Google’s Product Forums are loud, a Nexus 4 users has taken it upon himself to detail many of the issues that he says have formed inside of Android 4.4 KitKat on his Nexus 4.

A Reddit user named lazy_elf has compiled a list of Android 4.4 KitKat problems he has found on his Nexus 4. In all, there are 27 issues detailed, some of which are extremely minor, others of which are fairly big. In response to his post, users have begun detailing their own issues with the Android 4.4 KitKat update, adding to an already extensive list.

Android 4.4 KitKat problems range from poor battery life to UI flaws to poor connectivity and they have led users to cry out for an Android 4.4.3 KitKat bug fix update. We’ve been able to confirm several of these bugs on our Nexus 5. Unfortunately, Google hasn’t confirmed anything.

We have seen some movement though. Earlier this week, a new version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat was discovered lurking on the Nexus 5. It’s not clear if the build will ever be released to the public, however. Android Police also claims that an audio bug that is plaguing Android 4.4 KitKat users is eventually going to get a fix though it’s not clear when the fix will be coming.

Google’s software process is unpredictable which means that users who are indeed suffering from these issues will have to endure for now and look for temporary fixes for their problems.
