Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Leaks Again Ahead of Release

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update release date still is unknown but that doesn’t mean that it’s still in the shadows. No, for the second time this month, the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update has leaked out, tempting owners who don’t want to wait for the official release from Samsung.

Earlier this month, Samsung pushed out the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update, the first Android 4.4 KitKat update to land for an already released Samsung smartphone. The software is currently limited to one region of the world though we expect the update to start hitting other regions in the near future. We also expect it to start hitting other devices later on this year.

One of the devices that is certainly getting Android 4.4 KitKat is the Samsung Galaxy S4. Rumors have pointed to an update landing in January, February or March and French carrier SFR confirmed an update for January or February. We’ve also seen the update leak out, tempting those who aren’t phased by installing test firmware that may or may not be the official version of Android 4.4.

Today, thanks to SamMobile, the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update has leaked again. The update is a piece of test firmware of Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the GT-I9505, just like that the last leak, which means that it may or may not be the final version of Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update.

Those who do choose to update early will need to backup their files, this will wipe data. Those who aren’t adept at installing unofficial software should hold out as the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 update release is getting closer.

The Galaxy S4’s KitKat update doesn’t appear to be a beast of an update. There are minor tweaks as opposed to major ones and the new UI that leaked out earlier this month, that we think will be coming with the Galaxy S5, isn’t on board. Instead, this appears to be an incremental update but one that should delight Galaxy S4 users.

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 figures to be next in line, followed by the Galaxy Note 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. The Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates are rumored for April, right around the time that the Samsung Galaxy S5 should debut on shelves. Samsung’s Galaxy S5 is expected to feature Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box.
