Missing Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Finally Surfaces

Published

on

One of the last missing Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates, at least among major carriers, has surfaced today which is yet another sign that the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean roll out, which began in November of last year, is finally in its waning moments and should be completed soon.

Since October, Gotta Be Mobile has been tracking the Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates extremely closely. The reason, Samsung Android update roll outs are usually buggy, confusing and lengthy. And this trio of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates has lived up to that reputation, especially when it comes to timing.

While the majority of Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 updates rolled out in 2013, there are still a number of stragglers out there. We’ve detailed a number of missing Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates though, as we learned earlier this week, it looks like most carriers are aiming to get their updates out by the end of February, or, around three months after the updates first started to roll out.

Today, one of the few remaining major Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates without any kind of progress emerged from the shadows, teasing owners that are still holding onto 2012’s Galaxy Note flagship.

Vodafone Australia revealed today that its Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is currently in testing, a sign that a roll out could be upcoming if everything goes well. This is the first time that we’ve seen the carrier confirm an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for its Galaxy Note 2 and it just confirms what we’ve been saying for awhile now, that the Samsung Android 4.3 update process is winding down.

This update was one of the few, by our count, completely missing in action. Other major missing Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 updates at least were confirmed with potential release windows.

Up next for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 could be Android 4.4 KitKat, Google’s latest Android update and one that has already emerged for the Galaxy Note. Rumors suggest that the update could arrive alongside the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update in March though Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything yet and a specific date hasn’t been rumored.

Given that carriers like Vodafone are still in the process of pushing out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, it could be awhile before some Galaxy Note 2 devices receive Android 4.4 KitKat, if it even arrives at all.

Vodacom South Africa also hasn’t said peep about the Note II 4.3 update. Even when asked directly. Samsung South Africa were equally unhelpful. It’s really poor that they are happy leaving customers in the dark. I’ll be looking to go back to HTC come upgrade time.

Sincere advice- do not upgrade the Samsung Galaxy 4,3 & Note2 before looking on the forums that describe all the problems that come with this release. You will loose the ability to use your phone…
