After months and months of waiting, and a few delays, Motorola is finally ready to mass produce the smartphone they’re offering that’s also made out of wood. We’re talking about the Moto X of course, which comes full of free customization options, and now a paid wood alternative.

Confirmed last week by Motorola, this afternoon customers who choose the new Moto X smartphone can get the device completely customized with an array of colors, and as of today you can choose to get the back built with real wood. Coming in Bamboo, Walnut, Teak, and Ebony for only $25.

If you want a phone made out of wood like the beautiful Moto X in Walnut shown above, you can now get one. Motorola has confirmed the wood-backed Moto X actually comes in wood “finishes” with the company using a durable generic wood, then finishing the top with a Walnut, Teak, or Ebony look and feel. The Bamboo option, however, is real bamboo and not a finish.

The Motorola Moto X was announced in August full of 18 color options, custom accent colors, and wood backs, but the wood was delayed until Bamboo launched in December. Now, nearly 6 months later you can buy the Moto X from MotoMaker.com and get it customized with your wood of choice for only $25.

Essentially you’ll be getting the same impressive Android 4.4 KitKat powered 4.7-inch smartphone with a powerful processor, 10 megapixel camera, and nearly stock Android only with the rear made completely out of wood. Nothing has changed from the previous version, you’ll just be able to get wood instead of the standard black, white, or custom color choices.

The Moto X can be yours for $49 on Verizon through MotoMaker, or $99 from the other main US carriers, on a 2-year contract of course, then for only $25 more you can get it in Walnut, Ebony, Teak, or Bamboo. I’m a huge fan of the Walnut option, but Teak sure looks good too. At the time of writing Walnut appears to not be ready, but the rest are a go. Get one now, as they’ll surely sell out fast.
