Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat Bug Fix Update Confirmed

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update is only a few weeks old and already, Samsung has been forced to confirm an Android 4.4 KitKat bug fix update for its Galaxy Note 3 due to compatibility issues with third-party accessories, a problem that first emerged last week as a nasty surprise.

Earlier this month, Samsung rolled out the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update, its first Android 4.4 KitKat update and one that came right out of the blue. The update isn’t a massive change for Galaxy Note 3 owners though it does bring some likeable features to the table including some UI tweaks and emoji support.

The update, however, delivered a nasty surprise to Galaxy Note 3 owners in the form of an issue with third-party accessories. The update set off a wave of criticism last week when users discovered that some third-party accessories stopped working properly with the Galaxy Note 3 after the Android 4.4 KitKat update.

Many believed that it was the end of third-party accessories on Samsung devices though Samsung immediately denied that that was its intent. Instead, it alluded to it being some type of issues, unrelated to the Android 4.4 KitKat update.

As it turns out, the issue is related to Android 4.4 KitKat. Today, the company confirmed that the issue is indeed related to Android 4.4 KitKat and that it will be rolling out a firmware update to address the situation that has left some owners without accessory support. Here is what the company told ArsTechnica:

We have currently identified a software compatibility issue with the Galaxy Note 3 update to Android 4.4 (KitKat) and select 3rd party accessories. A software update will be available shortly. We are committed to offering a diverse and reliable mobile experience for all customers, providing continued support and solutions for any issues that arise with product updates for both Samsung manufactured and third-party accessories.

So, it would appear that a firmware update will be issued to Galaxy Note 3 owners in the near future and that accessory users don’t have much to worry about, despite notions of the contrary.

We would imagine that Samsung will be baking the fix into all of its upcoming Android 4.4 KitKat updates for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Whether or not it will bring delays is unclear as Samsung and its carriers typically don’t divulge specific Android update information.

The Galaxy Note 3 KitKat update is still limited to just two variants in a couple of regions. It has not yet hit the United States and carriers here still haven’t said when, or if, they will be updating their Galaxy Note 3’s, though, an update does seem likely.

There are a few other issues too after the update. Battery drains faster, many applications including Whatsapp hangs often, phone is slower to respond at times, the return tab do not function at times.

The phone keeps on hanging quite often. It’s like a nightmare of upgrading to kit kat.
    You can’t downgrade this even.
    Wait for an update
