New Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Leaks

The official Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update remains limited at the moment. Unofficially, the update has spread further thanks to a Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update leak for one of the most popular variants of Samsung’s current flagship smartphone.

Earlier this year, Samsung started rolling out the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update. The update, the first Android 4.4 update to land for Samsung users, was followed by a Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update that reportedly landed in Korea a few days ago and last week, touched down for Sprint Galaxy S4 users in the United States.

Sprint became the first American carrier to offer the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update in the United States. In fact, it became one of the first carriers in the world to offer the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update. Like the Galaxy Note 3’s Android 4.4 update, the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update is not widespread.

The update spread a little further today though, not in an official way. Instead of another official Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat roll out, Galaxy S4 owners have been treated to another unofficial Android 4.4 KitKat roll out thanks to SamMobile.

The site today leaked the unreleased Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy S4 GT-i9505 model. It’s a piece of test firmware which means that it may, or may not be completed, though it is an update that is straight from Samsung’s clutches. The update has a January 28th build date which means that it’s fairly recent but again, there is no guarantee that this will be the final version that rolls out to GT-i9505 users in the future. That means that Galaxy S4 owners should proceed with caution.

Like the Sprint Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update, the update appears to be very incremental in that it doesn’t offer any huge game-changing features or design tweaks. Instead, it’s a small update aimed at bring some new functionality including emoji support and some tweaks to the software’s status bar.

Samsung does not announce release dates ahead of time which means that an official release date for this software remains out of reach. Given the leak and given the roll out in the United States, it’s possible that we could see the international update start spreading in the near future. International updates typically roll out ahead of updates in the United States, something that made the roll out in the United States so surprising.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update roll outs are expected to be followed by updates for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Those two updates are rumored for March or April though like the remaining Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat updates, Samsung has yet to confirm solid dates.

I am not sure if they have added any new exciting features. Anybody knows?
